Wrong song order on Petra CDs

On my "Petra" CD, the song order is totally mixed up and on Revival, "Amazing Grace" and "The Prodigal's song" has switched places. Is it like this on all copies or do I have some strange rare versions? ;)

Tjenna Boray!

It's the same thing on my copies!
I think the song order is mixed up on all the cd covers (or just the Swedish versions? ;) )

and hey boray, do u have a email or something? would be fun to hear your Petra history in Swedish =)

The Revival tracklist is mixed up on every CD-copy I've seen. Perhaps they have corrected it in later printing, but I'm not sure.

The mix-up on the self-titled album only happens on the CDs released by Epic Records. The tracklist that is on the back of your CD is the actual tracklist of the Word Records release, and as far as I know also of the original Myrrh Records LP release. The order of the tracks on your CD is the actual tracklist of the cassette releases of the album. It's a weird situation and I'm not really sure what caused Epic Records to mix things up. However, the CD with the wrong tracklist that you have is no exception.

You think that's good... the track list order for Come & Join Us is totally scrambled on the vinyl release vs. the cassette release/later CD release:

I've seen a copy of the debut album on vinyl... I may even have it (I'll have to check)... and I don't remember a difference in the actual song order. I've always thought this was just a misprint on the back of the CD, although having "Parting Thought" last arguably makes a lot of sense.

VINYL

My old vinyl 1977 LP released of "Come & Join us" printed on Myrrh (Word) is good!
The right track listings both on back cover and inner sleeves...

Even the first selftitled vinyl LP is correct...both inside and outside.

The LPs of Come And Join Us and Petra do have matching tracklists. The track order on the CD of Come And Join Us is different than the track order on the LP. (And Without You is retitled to: Without You I Would Surely Die to avoid confusion with the Washes Whiter Than-song (Couldn't Find Love) Without You). But as Trodlan says the song order on the back of the cover and on the LP itself match perfectly.

The 'problem' with Boray's CD is that the track order on the CD doesn't match the tracklist on the backsleeve. I was just trying to suggest a possible reason for this misprint. I think it has to do with the cassette tracklist, but it's still a strange mistake.

I have right here my LP of the debut album, and my cassette of Come & Join Us. The song order on the cassette of CJU matches what is on my CD. The song order that I have on the Guide for the vinyl is from the LP of that album that a friend showed me years ago, so the vinyl song order was different from the cassette/CD song order.

The song order on my album matches the back cover of the CD version... which is what p-freak said but I contradicted (D'OH!). Mine is Myrrh, so I assume it's the original 1974 version. Oddly, on the record it's "Back Sliding Blues" and it's "Gonna' Fly Away" which is kinda weird on both counts since those are misspellings in both cases ("Backsliding" would be correct, and I have no idea where that apostrophe came from)

I'm not sure why I never posted that alternate (original, I mean) song order for the debut album on the Guide... I've had the record for some time now.

alternate P song order

Post by Michael » Sun Nov 25, 2007 4:45 pm

I just added the alternate song order for the debut album to my site... although I doubt anyone still reading this thread particularly cares. :)
