Question about "Revival"

Post by LexingtonPethead » Fri Sep 24, 2004 8:02 pm

Does anyone know if John sings ALL the vocal tracks on "Send Revival, Start With Me"? The opening vocals just don't sound like John, then there are two voices singing together throughout the song - the second one to me sounds like John, but not the first. The CD book says John does all the vocals, but the opener sure doesn't sound like him. Was this intentional?

It is John singing in a lower register. The producers of that CD wanted to try to get a different sound from him. From what I heard, the song was shipped out to people in the music industry without letting them know who the group was--preconceived notions and all that. Reports were that few people could place the band, but they liked what they heard. At least, that's what I heard.

It is a lower register but is easy to see that is John ..the two voicxes

It is very similar to Rise our voices like incense and Take me In (PETRA PRAISE - THE ROCK CRIES OUT!)

Yes, it's 100% John, and yes, RockOn, you heard correctly.

I've been listening (again) to Revival for the past couple of days, and I really like the sound of it. This one had to grow on me a couple of years ago when I first bought the CD, as I normally perfer listening to rock CDs over worship CDs. But the sound is current and up to date and overall very appealing. I think it's a shame that none of it is getting airplay.

I really love Revival... it has a special place in my heart. It takes me back to the 1st Pethead Convention; John was doing a concert here in Sheboygan and he brought the rough mixed CD along for us to listen to as we drove back home from the airport.

You could have heard a pin drop in the van... everyone was listening in awe to this new CD that no one had ever heard before. It had been a few years since Petra released anything, so we all were soaking this up like a sponge.

Ah... good memories of good times.

Man I remember that like it was yesterday. I still see us 3 girls (Yoli, Elo and myself) sitting in the seat behind Sue and John and we were bawling our eyes out.

To me the songs were so relevant to my heart and soul at the time and they touched me and as I sat there worshipping the Lord listening to the words, it was a special time for me to give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings He gave me, despite the difficulties I was going through at the time.

It was really cool for John to bring this so that we could be the first ones to hear this CD and that was another blessing and privilege for all of us.
