In my feable mind the quintessential Petra line-up would have been:

John Schlitt
Bob Hartman
Louie Weaver
Ronnie Cates
John Lawrey

They seemed to have a lot of chemistry as a band. They seemed to have a relationship with each other beyond the music.

I wonder how things would have gone had John Lawrey and Ronnie Cates stayed?

I understand that Ronnie was tired of the road, is that true?
Why did John Lawrey leave?

Lawry was the one tired of the road and wanted to get his production studio up and running, and his very successful at it. Ronnie had some personal things going on and I feel out of respect for the band decided to leave to get everything taken care of. I believe he has a studio somewhere in Florida and has done some production for Wind Up records. I feel they are on good terms with Bob & John.
