The thing about Petra Praise is that Petra was so forward thinking in doing it! My youth group had been singing praise songs in youth meetings for about three years prior to that album, but NO ONE was recording that stuff in the way Petra did! They helped a lot of people to see that you could hold a WORSHIP service with the kind of music you liked!

I know that I couldn't stand the music we did in church, I would always run for my headset and put on a Petra album.

all of the sudden worship could become a relevent and personal thing for every believer -- not just the ones who grew up with the old hymns.

I think Petra is not recognized enough for their forward thinking, and I think that a lot of it is because they didn't have the mainstream recognition that Amy Grant, MWS, or even Stryper did.

I don't know why more CCM artists won't recognize the trailblazing that Petra did? Is it jealousy? I don't know. My personal theory is that Petra has never conformed to the 'clickes' in the CCM world and therefore aren't welcome.

Petra is by far my favorite band today and yesterday of all time and always will be, no doubt (no pun intended). Third Day is my second favorite. I've said my take on this before and I say it again, my Double Take: Third Day was not slamming Petra, they were slamming the voters. It was not an anti-Petra interview at all.

I never said it was an anti-Petra INTERVIEW. I said it was an anti-Petra ATTITUDE. What we have is two documented instances when Third Day could have expressed support for Petra, and they instead expressed veiled disdain. I don't think Third Day wake up every day and think, "You know, Petra really stinks and I'm glad nobody wants them on the radio any more!!" But I also doubt anyone in Third Day was sad when they heard the retirement announcement.

I think there are alot more in the CCM that feel the way 3rd Day does but has enough courtesy and respect to say otherwise. Does it not say somewhere in the Bible to have respect for the ones who paved the way before you. I keep thiking of Hebrews 12.
