Not to completely highjack this thread but I have long believed that the credit system is falsely inflating our standard of living. Prices are no longer based on 'what the market will bear' as people just put it on credit whether they can afford it or not. I don't think the ultimate outcome of this is going to be that good.
I have to say that if I did get a credit card, I would use it the same way you do, Shell. Only spend what you know you can pay off right away. And then I'd still have to stay away from ebay.

Hehe. This is far from being the first time a thread has drifted off topic...You're right, the credit card companies do feed on the "buy now, pay later" mentality and people will buy stuff whether they can afford it or not. The amount they make on interest alone is ridiculous. The days where you had to work and save up if you wanted to buy something seem to be gone.

$50? You must really like that band, David.
Welcome back by the way, it's been awhile since you've posted.

Great to be back, Shell. You may recall I went through a career change, and I've really had to burn the wick at both ends for the past several weeks with my new job. It's been hard sacrificing my "hobbies" and things I like doing at home.
Yeah, that's a CD I had to have and was willing to pay just about anything to get it. It was right at $50, unopened, and wasn't hard to find with a little bit of searching. I was so excited when it arrived!

Yeah, I remember about you changing jobs; I was pretty sure that was what was keeping you occupied. It can be stressful to start a new job, but you do what you have to.

It's going really well, but gosh, it seems like by the time I spend time with my family and then tackle a couple of hours of work later at night, it gets really tiring. I'm in outside business to business sales and the work I do "after hours" seems unending. There's this continual pressure to "prove yourself" and you know you're constantly being evaluated. In sales, management is always looking for signs that hiring you instead of the other guy (or gal) was the right decision.
