Since I'm still on vacation and haven't seen a thing, I won't put my two-cents worth in... YET.

But I really afraid of the zooming in and out and panning back & forth stuff.... Yes, I'm old and I get dizzy easily!

Bridget, you said
But, it will be interesting to see how much more professional, how much better the packaging, and extras that will be included in the Newsboys Live DVD when it comes out.
That's EXACTLY what I am wondering.... when that comes out, let's have a comparison discussion - and then refer back to this thread.

You have as much right to your opinion as anyone Bridget, and you've made some valid observations. I've learned being an outspoken female can have it's disadvantages. But like I've said, Petra chose to sign with Inpop in the first place.

Some people will like it, and some won't. It only makes sense that the more time you take putting something like this together, the better it will be, and it was put together in a short time. It boils down to money, and that's usually the case in the business world. Whatever the case, it's rather late to do a whole lot about it now.

What is WITH the post office anyway? I haven't gotten my copy of the DVD yet!!!! :P

FWIW I have both of the two newsboys concert DVD's that have come out so far and neither of them have any crazy frantic editing, zoom in, zoom out stuff. One of them had several of their music videos as well.

Just mostly wide shots, boom camera (is that what it is called), etc. Pretty steady stuff.

I've yet to see the farewell DVD. I checked wallymart, wurst buy, and my local christian store.

There's about 23 minutes of additional Petra footage and 5 minutes of Furler footage. That's not the same amount.
But I maintain Petra, as an importance piece of Christian music (and rock music in general), DESERVED better.
I agree with you. Their long ministry and their major contributions to Christian music history merits more. As a fan, I WANTED more.

But let's face reality, throughout history great artists have rarely been afforded the fame or credit they are due while they are alive. It's no different with Petra.

And here's the simple business fact: "Petra wasn't selling worth a stink" (to borrow a quote from John Schlitt).

Given that, this final album and DVD are way more than I expected. And in fact, the final product turned out to be better than I imagined it would be. I really enjoy this DVD.

Let me also say that I have never tried to "attack" you or "trash" you. I have disagreed and continue to disagree with some statements you've made. But disagreements are not attacks on you.

I think I am just too old. And glad it was only ten bucks.

Josh,

I gotta agree with you here. That is why I posted this thread in the first place. We were there and saw the thing being taped. If I hadn't seen the DVD and read some of the comments here I (A) Wouldn't want to see it or (B) would form a negative opinion before even seeing it.

I popped it into the DVD player expecting the worst. When I saw the actual footage I was blown away! This wasn't cheap. I've read comments about the poor packaging. Most DVD's don't come with inserts unless it's some "Special Edition." The DVD is quality product.

Hey, as a fan I to would love for Petra to be touring around the globe and sweeping the Dove and Grammy's. But like Josh noted, that wasn't happening. We went from Petra being the most popular and sweeping the favorite band, guitar player, bass player, keyboard player, singer drummer catagories in CCM, to people not even knowing that they were still around!

I just don't like the comments about Inpop, and the way it's put out there. Like, "Yeah, it's Petra's mistake cause they signed with Inpop." They are responsible for not signing with someone who would really back them." Come on folks! Petra didn't have anyone wanting to sign them!

They were on a one way trip to obscurity with Double Take being the last album we would ever see. Sure the WORD days were the hay day, but from what I can see Inpop has been the only company that signed and supported Petra when they weren't at the top. They invested in this group because they believed in the group, not because they saw huge potential revenue. That's not how the corporate world (Let alone the music industry) usually works and for that alone I think Inpop should be commended!

We have to stop being so picky and be thankful for the fact that we have the DVD.

I don't like the outfit Bob wore during the rehearsal footage. Bob deserves better. :)

I still haven't got a copy! :( The local Wal-Mart isn't cooperating. I am going to drive to a Bible book store tonight in hopes that they will have a copy.

Just thought I would note the two newsboys DVD's were released under Sparrow. So they are not really inpop products. Now the new DVD however I assume will be inpop.

Like, "Yeah, it's Petra's mistake cause they signed with Inpop." They are responsible for not signing with someone who would really back them."

Oh, I wasn't blaming Petra. I know the music biz is crazy, and I can understand their reasons for signing with Inpop. I was just pointing out nobody forced them to do so. Who they work with is up to them, and my opinion isn't particularly significant, especially this late. I just don't think it accomplishes anything to try to find someone to blame when they don't officially exist as a band anymore, and I was trying to diffuse things like I usually do. You'll notice I haven't gone out of my way to compliment the record company either. Although they probably did keep Petra going a little while longer than they might have if they didn't have a contract. The business world in general stinks. :P

I'm glad to have the DVD, and I'll probably like it.

I finally got my copy!

Here is my take....I think I paid around $10 for this "lifetime of memories". My only complaint is that they cut Bob's solo down. The rest of the video is awesome and will be something I treasure the rest of my life. I have been a Petra fan for nearly 22 years. While I would love for the band to continue for another 20+ years I know that is not reasonable. Having the DVD allows me the opportunity to see the greatest Christian band of all time for all time!

I view this DVD as a gift from Petra to their fans. The interview with the band was awesome! I love the concert. Thanks Petra for 33 wonderful years and for something to remember those years by........ & thanks Inpop for caring enough for the fans of Petra to put this together.
