Bob & John's New Praise Album - cover art
I dont care what it looks like. I ma just soooooo glad they are doing it.
Sometimes rather fans like it or not things must be this way or that because of trends and all that.
Worship till the cops come I realy like. In so many countrys you can not worship or even have a Bible. Christians are locked up eveyr day. Even in the USA it is geting closed to the word of God. And in churches people are so worred about how they look they forget that God wants us to worship with all our heart all our soul and all our mind. So I like "Worship Till The Cops Come very well coz if the church dosent wake up thats what will happen.

True enough, it is what's inside that's most important. And honestly, I don't think a CD's artwork will either stop someone from buying it or entice them. So really, it would be a waste of money to spend a lot on a photo shoot, etc. unless there were uses for the art for promotion or something.
I'm looking forward to hearing it!

Musica and I really like the cover art. With the roman numareal 2 with there head shot and "Guyz From Petra" was kinda of funny to us. We took it as a light-hearted joke. A tongue-a-cheek thing. Spelling guys with a "Z" was to make it look that they were tuff guys but as real all know they are great guys. Down to earth and will talk to you like they knew you for years. They meaning we took from the title is like what pethead1 says. Pretty soon its going to be illegal and someone will call the cops because you have the praise music on. No matter how loud it is.

Artwork certainly influences me when I make non-nostalgic CD purchases. Naturally the budget will constrain artwork choices, whether you're doing an expensive photo shoot with a professional photographer or hiring someone to mock up an understated cover in Photoshop; but it's still an important part of the sale.calicowriter wrote:True enough, it is what's inside that's most important. Gut-level reactions
Is it April Fool's Already?
Granted, the music will probably be good, and the budget was probably tight, but...
I assumed it was a joke. I thought some Pethead was just having fun christening their new Adobe suite. I had to read several replies to convince myself that this was the actual cover art (and the actual title...The more I think about it...I might like the title. Maybe.)
The numeral (II) is difficult to decipher, and to me, I thought it was "Guyz From Petra." College rap. The fonts don't agree. "Worship til" is modern, space age, etc...while the Times New Roman reels it back in to mediocrity.
In my opinion, an hour's worth of bad art. Amateurish. Nothing pops, nothing catches my eye. Maybe that's the appeal.
The emperor has no clothes, and I wonder if Bob and John even know about it.

"...We bent our backs and pulled the oars to the beat of Louie's solo..."
Man, tell us how you really feel Johnathan! Seriously though, I'd have to agree. The hip-hop spelling doesn't compliment the whole "Petra" experince too well. I think there are alot of ideas that would possibly fit the project better. The cover definitiely should do a better job of "reprezentin''.

I must agree with many of the others
I must say that the cover art is TERRIBLE. Plus, I am not sure about the theme of the album. Why on earth would anybody won't to be cops the seem negative in the realm of worship. I just do not like it. I would like to see more before I make a difinative answer but we will see. Just a thought or two. But it doesn't count for much.

Still In One Peace, The PrayinManis
I have only been a lurker up till now, but I have to add my opinion to this! I too thought this was a joke when I first saw it, and not a particularly good one at that!
The problem is, whilst Petra fans will buy this regardless of the artwork, as it is no one else will buy it! It sends out such confusing signals to someone browsing in a store - on the one hand it has 2 middle aged white guys on it, but the title and style is one of a cheesy "trying-so-hard-to-be-gangster" Christian rap outfit and then it mentions worship. As someone who has previously worked in marketing, I can say pretty much categorically that no one will buy this on a whim! The idea of a microphone and acoustic guitar on stage was a really good one - although it might imply it's more acoustic than it is, but please, please don't go with this! Give the project a chance of success!

OK, I was a regular poster on the old boards, but after they moved I never bothered to re-register. I still come on here and read the latest news though, and I'm still a huge Petra fan. I've loved every one of their albums including Revival and Double Take, and Jekyl & Hyde is my favorite Petra album. That said...I just had to register today to comment on this album cover.
No disrespect to the artist, but this is just bad. It's not that the design itself is terrible...but "Guyz from Petra"? "Worship till the Cops Come"? I don't know what they're trying to accomplish with it, but even as a diehard Petra fan I have to cringe. I can't imagine what my wife (not a Petra fan) would say. It screams "Low budget College rap album".
If I was an ex-Petra fan that felt like the guys no longer had what they had back in the early 90's, and I came across that album cover in a store I'd laugh. It looks like they are just out of touch with modern music and trying too hard to be relevant to a younger generation. However, a classy looking acoustic worship album by "Bob Hartman and John Schlitt" might catch my eye.
Sorry if any of that sounded harsh. I normally don't post like this. I just really think that it is so far off the mark that I had to say something. It took me reading this entire thread before I was finally convinced that it wasn't some sort of joke.

Please oh Please oh Please oh Please NOOOOOOOOO!
I know whoever made this cover did it out of their heart, but I like most everyone else seriously thought it was a joke by a Pethead. That's not good.
Just in case your wondering where you've seen this cover before and why it reminds you of a rap group. Click here. Even has the "Z" in place of an "S". If anything, don't use it cause it plagerizes Boyz 2 Men!!!
