Yeah IMC I agree this format isn't going to work on the largest majority of players, but you know what I am saying on a good computer etc.

The more that the Digital Music World advances for convenience, the more quality loss we experience in the audio. This is why LPs still have a market for those who are still interested in listening to Music in its most pure form.

CD is about the best we can get for quality in the Digital Market. Plus if CD’s went out of market, you would have a lot of Graphic artists in the music business out of work. Because you know the next step is just slap the bands photo on the mp3, no one cares.

You will be missing out if you don't have it on CD plain and simple!!

Well, for me, there's no question in my mind that I will get the CD, the only real question was would I buy the downloads first and I'm really thinking at this point that I probably will, not only so I can have the music sooner, but mostly because buying both will help Petra out and I really want to do that.

That is a good idea, if anything just to help Petra.

What original source are you referring to? If its mixed ITB, it'll be bounced 16 bit 44.1khz, if its off a console, even say a G series SSL, it'll be bounced to disk, which will be burned 16 bit 44.1khz. That is the standard for CD audio. If you're doing video applications, you'll most likely be doing 48k. So, unless you have access to an "original source" (i.e. the hard disk or tape) you won't gain any advantage by upgrading a 16, 44.1khz recording. MP3 by default deals with compression. The MP3 will not be better than the cd ever.

In no way shape or form can a MP3 compete quality or/and quantity wise to a CD; It's impossible!!

Let just pretend in a fantasy world Lawry has really kick butt equipment, and they chose to use 48k/24 bit ITB they could export it to a 48K/24bit mp3/wav with low/no compression, abbey roads spit it out at this format for kicks. This will out do a CDDA any day technically.

mp3/wav wins.

16/44.1 CD would sound better than any MP3 most of the time. There are some 1092kbps MP3s that are almost as good, but they still have some aliasing artifacts.

There are some download sites that sell wavs in various forms, all the way up to 24/192. These sound great most of the time, but the download times are a killer for some people with ancient 'puters or dial up.

That is what I meant. I don't think that I would have ever said MP3s sound as good or better than CD.

I can tell the difference big time between 320kpbs mp3 and the original audio cd on my bose headphones. Even in my car I can tell the difference from the original audio cd and mp3's ripped from a cd and burned to an audio cd. Unfortunately I will never be able to enjoy the high quality sound of the original cd because I have this thing about buying a Petra cd and instantly ripping off to mp3 and burning an audio cd to listen to so I don't ruin the original. And I buy two of each of their cd's. I know I have a problem.
