Here is one Petra fan hoping for a Houston area date. I think with a little publicity that some of the smaller venues would fill up for Petra.
Hopefully they won't price themselves out of the market like they did last fall; the venue location(in Dallas) is hugely important.

No offense is meant, but exe, you have a very low price point when it comes to what you think a concert is worth. The Houston show was a reasonable price, at least for the venue. Need to market the show this time.

I think (though not completely sure) that Exec meant the price for the promoter to bring the band in, not necessarily the cost of the tickets.

I was looking at it from all angles. The amount it was costing to bring CP to these 3 three Texas dates was in range with what other top CCM artists of the day are getting like Skillet, Thousand Foot Crutch, and Switchfoot etc..
The issue for the Dallas was also venue related; the promoter had 2 churches bidding for the show, but CP wanted the show in a secular venue which in turn in this case just about doubled the cost for the promoter. The location of the venue was also hugely undesirable because of crime and added cost for parking which would be somewhere between $15-$40 with the cheaper lots being unsecured. I was looking at for 2 tickets an outpocket expense of $175+ and this was mid level seating for a 70 minute show and before cost of merchantdise, food, drink, & gas.

BTW one of the churches in the bidding was Irving Bible Church, the same church Petra has played at on several occasions throughout their history including the Farewell Tour which just about sold out all 3,500 seats.

I saw Petra on the Farewell tour at that church. It was a nice venue and I loved the concert. They didn't come to San Antonio for that tour, so I made a trip up there to see them for what I assumed at the time would be the last time.

Yes very nice venue. IBC over the last 10-15 yrs has hosted just about every CCM artist out there. Stryper even played there when they did the acoustic church tour back in 2006-2007. Petra has played there at least 3 times on PP2, GF, and Farewell Tours and always has had near capacity crowds.
BTW the Classic Petra stage would have easily fit there unlike the venue they were scheduled to play at in Downtown Dallas.

Classic Petra now has 7 dates for 2012. The latest one was just posted and it's May 3rd, 8pm at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville. $25.

My birthday weekend. Unless God puts a brick wall in front of me (which, in love, He will do from time to time), I'll be there.

Besides the Longview date there doesn't seem to be anything coming up for Texas.

It is a pretty town, been there a few times. The headquarters for Whataburger is there, they make some good burgers.
