Shawn I have this theory that you are Mark Kelly posting under a different name...
If I said I was Mark Kelly would any one believe me???
The one great thing about the internet, you never who you are talking too.

I was actually hoping he was really Kenny Rogers and would be funding the whole cd and tour
It would be cool if Mark posted on here though ...
I know some guys that work for Kenny. One of them goes to church here in the KC area. I don't think Kenny is as loaded as he used to be. I never got to eat at the chicken place. Have you guys?

To think that this whole thing started with a "What if" question, and now it is all coming true.

Well...looking back, some people said this would never happen. Funny.
I did not win the Mega Millions lottery, tho I DID try, and therefore could not fund the Petra "home coming" concert video, with everyone living from their history motivated (paid DARN well) to participate.

That's what I had planned to do with my winnings.

HEHE I too was going to have the homecoming concert and also bring in a gospel choir for "Just Reach Out" and "Love" among others. There was to be a Degarmo and Key tribute, hopefully with Degarmo that also could use the choir for "Destined to Win." Siloam might have made an appearance too.

Which version? There were several. I have personally heard "Sweet Destiny" sung by three different singers. I have a demo version of the song sung by a guy who never even made it onto an actual album.
"Siloam" was basically Brian Lutes (the drummer) and whoever he could gather together at the time, it seemed. Still, I enjoyed the music.

It would have been Brian Lutes and anyone else he could get.

The Schlitt version started with John jumping on the surf board from a helicopter while it was on the top of the wave. Eventually that wave pushed the board to shore. The guys tried swimming it back out with different people and eventually just two guys, but the timing of the waves was not on their side. This Classic version is catching the right wave. Sweet Comfort, DeGarmo and Key and a few others are also suiting up, waxing down their boards and getting ready to catch the same wave.
Reviving another ancient thread, just to say: that's a very well-stated analogy with the surf theme.
Maybe you should have been a song writer for the Beach Boys.
Sing to the tune of "Little Old Lady From Pasadena"...
It's the crusty old timers from Classic Petra; (Go Bobby, go Greggy, go Marky go!)
Got a bunch'a classic tunes and they'ra gonna get'cha'; (Go Louie, go Johnny, crank up and go!)
And parked in a Tennessee car garage, there's a musty ol' dusty ol' tour van by Dodge...;
And everybody's wond'rin which one is cleaner: is it Volz, is it Schlitt, or some other screamer?
They sing real fast and they sing real high, they can hit some high notes that make a hound dog cry;
It's the crusty old timers from Classic Petra... da da da da...;

Thankfully no sharks were jumped during this surfing incident!

I'd go see them just because I never got to actually see that lineup in concert. The only Petra concert I was ever actually able to attend was in the "Midnight Oil" tour. It was excellent, of course.
I have seen Greg X. perform solo, though. So, it would be great to see the old Petra together once again.
One of my biggest wishes is to go to a Petra concert. Even though John's better I'd still see Greg, but that'll never happen,

Petra still does occasional shows I think.
