wow...amazing how the chit-chat on these threads eventually strays far from the oritinal poster's comment/question...sheesh!

Petra's best song has to be the signature "Beyond Belief", but the following are way up there too:
2) Enter In
3) Destiny
4) No Doubt
5) Just Reach Out

I think, as has been said before, "Beyond Belief" is really a *signature song*, entailing both the high quality classic rock sound of the band and the straight-forward message that is such a strong common thread throughout the entire 30-year history of the band - i.e., "...there's a higher place to go..."!!

The one song that has had a special significance for me is a song from "No Doubt" called 'For All Your Worth' A song that has helped me through some struggles in my life. Especially when My self-esteem is especially vulnerable and feel depressed and worthless which is most of the time.

"For All You're Worth" is not one of my favorites musically speaking, but I agree that it's message is straignt ahead truth and is valuable. There have been times during which I have specifically chosen that one because I needed to message therein.

There really is a God, and He really does like us!

I forgot to mention that the best cover I've heard of Lord, I Lift Your Name on High is by Petra. The intro was SpyroGyra-ish--but so much better. I just listened to it again for probably the hundredth time! Awesome!

It is very hard to pick a favorite. I like the revival cd,especially

Better is one day
Meet with me
You satisfy
How Long

The Noise We Make was awesome at Kingdom Bound 2004!
The first Petra song I heard to this day I can't find out what the song was but the video was shot in a church. I asked John after a concert in London Canada but to this day I'm not sure what song it was but saw his love for God and man.

I would have to agree with breadman. Grave Robber is a great song both in the music and the message. This song was a great encouragment to me when one of my good friends died.

Easy question for me!
The first version of God Gave rock and Roll to You (the one with the long intro-especially because of the intro). This is one of the best songs in the history of songs. All the subsequent versions ruined it, but that one is still stellar.
Heh I swore my allegiance to it by making it the very first song of my Faves compilations. :)
