Yeah no medleys. That is one thing that has always been a turn off for me and Petra concerts.

I think medleys are fine in concert where it's an economical way of showcasing a bunch of favorites without making the show ridiculously long, but certainly not as part of a studio album.

I agree, though I wonder sometimes whether medleys become a crutch. For example, on Farewell, how many people would have gladly sacrificed several of the recent-vintage full-length songs ("Amazing Grace," "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High" to hear full versions of classics like "This Means War!," "Mine Field," "Sight Unseen," etc.? I know I would've.Mountain Man wrote:I think medleys are fine in concert where it's an economical way of showcasing a bunch of favorites without making the show ridiculously long, but certainly not as part of a studio album.

Re: BTTR Part 2 and 3 Track List Speculation?
My feeling regarding the Farewell setlists was that Petra wanted to make a statement that "No, we haven't been doing nothing since '91" - they overemphasized some of the more recent albums (PP2, Revival, and J&H) to sort of "push" the idea that they were still a modern band. So songs like "This is The Noise...", "Amazing Grace", "Show Your Power", "I Waited..", and at least two or three tunes from J&H were staples. Whereas many of the classic songs were jammed into a couple medleys with some exceptions ("Beyond Belief", "Judas' Kiss", etc).
I don't mind medleys all that much, TBH - but I would say they would be better in a live setting than on an album.

What about 'Disciple' - anyone think they'll do that one? I hope so, but it doesn't seem to have stood the test of time as well as the others.

I sure hope they do it, it's one my favorites. Trouble is tho, I hope they do a bunch of 'em. Too many, then will actually get done, especially now that there will only be one more album of reworked classics.

From how management explained it, it sounds like this second album will only have classics on it; which in turn could give us 12 remade classics instead of 10.

If that's so, that's a change from the time of the TBN taping when Mark Kelly stated that the next album would be in the same 10+2 format. I wouldn't mind - if there's a whole new album coming, then save the new songs for that!

Re: BTTR Part 2 and 3 Track List Speculation?
I just listened to Adonai (Classic Petra) and compared it to the Never Say Die version of Chameleon - I was surprised to note that Volz actually strikes a HIGHER note (high "F") in the new version of Adonai than in Chameleon (high "E"). Plus in the new album the music would almost certainly be at least a half step lower - so Greg's signature "scream" may not be unreasonable after all. I'd love to see Chameleon redone - it was always a favorite of mine, and would take well to the heavier music of Classic Petra.

I was really impressed with Volz on the "Adonai" remake. It's one of my favorite Petra songs, and he absolutely nails it.
