art and Christianity

very interesting discussion here. i appreciate both arguments.

i think an artist should do what he or she feels compelled to do, according to his or her relationship with Jesus, knowledge of the Word, and faith. if a Christian tells me that he's comfortable writing and performing secular music, then fine. if i like it, i'll listen to it.

John has always been adamant and clear about his position as a Christian in this world. he sings for Jesus, period. he lives for Jesus, period. there's no doubt as to where he stands regarding his faith. no one can look at John's life and have doubts as to where his devotion lies. he is a believer indeed. and his music is a sure reflection of his fiery faith.

John Schlitt inspires me; his life spurs me on to take a stand for Christ. he and Keith Green are the only Christian artists who really inspire me to walk my Christian talk. God bless them for their lives. God bless John for being vocal and passionate about his faith.

the arguments about art and Christianity can and will go on but one thing's for sure - John will have his reward in heaven. and rightly so.
