Just because I'm not impressed with samples of songs that aren't release ready does not mean I hate Greg. Petra retired. If they are going to continue then the true voice of Petra should be fronting the band. John is/was the lead sing of the greatest Christian rock band that most likely would not have made it out of the 80's without him. I know, I know, the next brainless coment will be: "Why can't you just be happy for what they are doing and how God will use them and bla bla bla." I'm am happy for them and I do love these classic songs and they will probably sound better when complete. But to me Petra's lead sing is John. They should continue on with him or not at all.

John's calling didn't leave just because he's not in Petra and Petra's calling didn't stop just because john isn't in Petra. So they have to do what God tells them, not people. Let's remember the lyrics to the song everyone seems to love so much "Godpleaser" yet everyone is wanting Petra to please them instead of God.

And that's exactly the response I expected. I know that God has used Petra to bring glory and honor to His name and He may use this new/old whatever version also. On the other hand, Of course I want Petra to please me! that's why I'm buying the record. They are a rock band. They are not just ministry, they are a form of entertainment for us who love to listen to that style of music.

When they stand before God, he's not going to ask them why didn't you do what Timbo asked you to do
He'll ask them if they did what He asked them to do. Just because we get spoiled when we buy all their albums dosn't amount to jack squat when it comes to answering God's call.

Greg was the true voice of Petra long before John was and Classic Petra is about Petra as fronted by Greg, so get over it. It ain't about you. If you don't like it, don't listen.

So your stunned that Petra fans actually have a difference of opinion on what is what in/of Petra? I'm stunned that anyone could think that. If you think that someone saying they don't like the samples or they like John better than Greg shows a lack of support then my friend you and all that believe that are very naive.
I've said it before and will keep on saying I like John's voice over Greg's anyday, and when some sees someone saying that we get skinned alive and get comments like we should have 2 message boards or we get accused of not supporting Petra and such.
I will buy the new album and will go see a concert(if viable) because I like the songs the message and music alike not because some one is in or not in the band.

It's not the preference that bothers people it's the trashing on Greg. There has been some very unChristlike behavior towards the subject of Greg around here by more than a few and it's just very sad to see. It really comes off like sour grapes from those who aren't getting their way and it seems very selfish and childish. Many of us love both singers and want to put our full support behind Petra in whatever forum, but it's seems others are just too narrow minded for that.

What I do have a problem with is when people go as far as to say they shouldn't even continue if John's not with it. They have the right to do whatever they want or what they feel God is asking them to do. When people really start to understand that the world dosn't revolve around them then maybe we can talk about stuff without getting upset and putting others down.

Ya, gotta say I'm not impressed with what I heard. It's like there is no life in those samples like in the original songs.

I agree to a point. The music seems a lot more "alive", but the vocals feel kind of...dead. It's like Greg went all A/C and subdued his voice at the same time. I feel like I'm listening to the lead singer of Casting Crowns.
