The cover art doesn't bother me, but "Guyz From Petra" reminds me of The Icy Hot Stuntaz.Kirkman wrote:I prefer cover art not be photos of the band/singers, especially if it's just going to be cropped head shots.
I also don't like the "Guyz from Petra." Spelled like a really bad rap group.

Shell hit a lot of things squarely on the head with this post, which is pretty much the reason I've not made any post in a long time on this site. If I didn't know it was a "Christian" site, I wouldn't for the most part be able to tell that it was, even without all the bots.Shell wrote:I sort of find it puzzling myself that a CD cover discussion would explode like this and for the most part things like prayer requests or a baby announcement generate so little attention. I know this is a Petra discussion board, and I know that just because someone may not respond to a prayer request doesn't mean that they're not praying for the person or don't care. But after all, how much does an CD cover really matter in the big scheme of things? It seems to me if we can manage to respond to this sort of thing, we should be able to respond to the other stuff too. Just an observation.

shall we get down to the real issue making this a "hot topic"?
Many people don't like this cover and they stated their opinions honestly. It was not (and really it is still not) supposedly "ugly" until the self-righteous berating began. Seriously, the world isn't going to end if people complain about a frickin album cover.
BTW, how many times can anyone respond to a baby announcement thread? Debates are running conversations and often the same people are posting repeatedly to answer one another's questions and assertions. They are therefore necessarily long. I also do not accept the implied premise that baby announcement=good christian content and debating=work of his Satanic Majesty. This has been said before and it grates on me every time.
There is no eleventh commandment that says "Thou shalt be really nice all the time" If so, then Christ himself broke it. Such sentimentalism is one of the biggest entry points of worldliness in the church-it has more in common with gnosticism than Orthodox Christianity. The biblical precedent is on the side of vigorous debate.
Now that I, the DA have unleashed the maelstrom, let's have a discussion.

DINGDINGDINGDING!As any of you thought that maybe this is not about how many CD's can be sold or marketing or if they can get this on the all perfect radio stations? I know some of you around know Bob's quiet and sly type of humor, and I think this has Bob written all of over it.
Exe - you are the Man of the Hour.
I guess you all are too young to understand my "Garden Party" reference, so let me help you out:

Of course not, but that's because he spoke Aramaic and not English.
I cannot imagine that Jesus wouldn't use this kind of words. Read the gospels and find out what names Jesus called the Pharisees. They were called 'white tombstones', meaning fancy on the outside, dead on the inside. So talk about nice... The discussion here has been very polite compared to that!

If he had've spoken English though it would have been proper King James English. Apparently.

Best idea so far! I bet there are many talented Petra fans that would be privileged to offer their services for free if they had a chance of designing the cover of a Bob and John album!Enosh wrote: I think Bob should have a contest amongst the Petheads on this board.
It has been demonstrated time and time again that there are some amazing talented people on the Petrazone. With a contest you could stir up interest for the album!
For those of you saying that the title speaks of standing strong through persecution - I don't think it does at all - "Worship till the cops come" speaks of giving up when the persecution comes, in other words - we will worship until we're told not to! I'm sure this isn't what they mean to say, but I don't think they're intending the former meaning either - to me it's just a meaningless title.
Nearly all the criticism has been given constructively, and the only reason people bother criticising this is because they want it to do well! It may not have major label backers, but we all know John and Bob have the talent to do something fantastic - that is exactly the reason I don't want it to be let down by the cover art. Whatever people say, consumers are affected by the packaging, people do judge a book by its cover! That's why so much thought goes into it in the industry. If they want this to sell to more than just diehard fans, then they need to change the cover - period![/b]

Oh, come off it. Jesus wasn't always nice. Ever read some of things he called the pharisees? "Whitewashed tombs" and "brood of vipers" wasn't exactly complimentary and in fact would have been extremely insulting in that social context. An honor challenge was--and still is--serious business in honor/shame societies.notunderground wrote:I wonder if Jesus ever used the word "frickin"?
