The Union of Sinners & Saints
Re: The Union of Sinners & Saints
Got the album a few weeks ago. Been stuck in the computer for a couple weeks before I got a chance to listen. TBH I mostly bought it because I like these guys, what they've done in the past, and felt like I should throw my CD money their way, mostly for the bean counters (and benefit of those eating said beans).
I was not really anticipating anything great, mostly because I'm 46 and the canon has been closed for almost 30 years, not really their fault. But I actually really enjoyed it. It'll be in my car for a while. It also gives me a bit of hope for some of the stuff I'd like to accomplish.

I agree. This song really seems to suit John's voice.BriGuyPEI wrote:That version of Desert Rose is fantastic!
I also can't believe how good John Schlitt sounds these days. During the Farewell tour he was sounding pretty rough, and I thought maybe it was the end of the line for him, but here we are a decade later and he sounds as strong as ever.
Incidentally, I wonder how Rick Florian feels about all of this? These are basically his songs that John is covering.

Just wish it rocked more. My appetite is rock 80%, softer stuff 20%.

Here's a review from JFH:

Not sure why it took them so long to review it.
Anyway, support the band by giving them a 5 star approval on the "reader review."

Boy, they DID take a long time to review it. Not bad, though... not at all! Thanks for the find.

The song "RISE UP" is being released to radio today.... if you have a local radio station - give them a call and make a request!

Re: The Union of Sinners & Saints
I bought this album with some Christmas money. It's pretty good. Has that "laid back older rocker" feel. It has a few good grooves, but most of it is kind of a mix of ballads and soft-rock. It reminds me a lot of Journey's Trial by Fire in that respect.
Some of the standout songs for me are Rise Up, Brother to Brother, Lone Soldier (love this one!), My Offering, and Bittersweet.

It definitely has kind of an 'old school' vibe with a bit of modernism.... works for me!

Re: The Union of Sinners & Saints
They're currently in the studio recording their 2nd album. Hmm...perhaps we can resurrect the old "Greg vs. John" debate on here. Maybe this time we'll call it "CPR vs. TUOSS."HudsonPethead wrote:News?

Can't we all just agree that they're both great singers and leave it at that?dihigo wrote:Hmm...perhaps we can resurrect the old "Greg vs. John" debate on here.
