Post by bakersfieldpethead » Mon Oct 13, 2003 9:05 pm

Ok, Ok.......I know this is yet another topic that has been beetin' to death....But it still belongs on The Petra Zone.

What Petra albums are in your CD Player, and what are you listening to today?

In the car it is JAH.
In the house it is JAH, Come And Join, BB, CITAS, and last but not least Unseen Power.
It will change tomorrow or so with JAH staying in.Image

I listen to J&H a few times a week...I do not have a five disk at college but I have been listening to J&H, Unseen Power, Coldplay, Whiteheart, Trans Siberian Orchestra (must I say...AWESOME) and Jim Brickman's new Christmas record. Thats pretty much it though.

CD's

Post by Petrafan4life79 » Tue Oct 14, 2003 12:01 pm

Well, considering we have a 50+1 CD changer(I don't know why they consider it a 50+1), so you can imagine, we have more than our share of music in the CD player. Every CD we have is a Christian CD, so that's cool. Especially considering some of my husband's friends are not Christians, so when we have the CD's going on random in the background...hehehe...they're subconsiously taking it in.

As far as Petra goes...I have a 'one CD' player in the computer room, so I listen to whatever Petra CD I feel like at the time.

In the car we have a series of CD's, but the 2 that get listened to the most are J&H and Seven (Stryper).

In the CD player...

Post by Shell » Tue Oct 14, 2003 2:48 pm

Lately, in no particular order, it's been:

J&H
War and Remembrance CDs
Delirious-Cutting Edge
Antioch-Purpose :D
Eva Cassidy-American Tune-I was in Barnes and Noble one day, and they were playing a CD by a singer I'd never heard of, but she had such a gorgeous clear voice I had to find out who she was and get that CD. I do impulsive stuff like that sometimes. :) She died of melanoma in 1996, and her music is just now becoming available, it's sad.

Nickelback

Post by lucianotaz » Wed Oct 15, 2003 10:33 am

After weeks listening to only J&H (Its terrific) ...

At this time the new Nickelback album (The Long Road) is in my cd-player - I got it today. Its a very good album.

executioner,

Do you like the Journey - Arrival ? Steve Augeri is today my third favourite singer, of course after John Schlitt and John Elefante.

I bought the new Toto DVD too. Its great. The band performance is excellent, the audio is perfect. It worths a chance.

Journey

Post by executioner » Wed Oct 15, 2003 12:57 pm

Yes, I've been a fan for a long time, but really think that Arrival is their most complete album. Steve Augeri doesn't really add anything to the sound, but I thought I was going to miss S. Perry more than I have.

Journey

Post by Shell » Wed Oct 15, 2003 1:45 pm

But Steve Perry was so cute. Sigh. O.K., o.k., so there are other things besides being cute, but for us gals that's important.

Steve A. and Steve P. actually sound a lot alike. Journey's done some good stuff since Steve Perry left. They did some good stuff before he sang with Journey too, actually. Most people associate Journey with Steve Perry cuz he was in the band when they had most of their hits.

Post by pethead4life » Wed Oct 15, 2003 2:50 pm

Well, I still listen to J&H off and on, but my current playlist would have to be:

Star Song Ultimate Metal
Narnia - The Great Fall
Rob Rock - Eyes of Eternity
Shadow Wings - Carry On

.............

Post by bakersfieldpethead » Thu Oct 16, 2003 12:43 am

Ok if you will.......I will too

Double Take has always been at the bottom 5 of my fav list of Petra albums. But today, I was in the mood for it and so after about a year of not listening to it, I descoverd it is cool after all. It's not real Hard like I like it, but it's cool.

If you really take a deep listen to it, you still here this Classic Rock sound that all of the classic Rock bands were going too. Even Bon Jovie has played around with this in times past, with newer songs as well as Def Lepard and other bands. Someone said they heard that Bon Jovie was cutting an album like Double Take, so that should be interesting.

As one things is for sure, We shall see just what bands copy this new era that Petra has laid upon us. Jekyll & Hyde is a first in the CCM, why? Because other legends are trying to make it again with the new styles, but Petra is making an Old style New again.

Car stereo - Petra - The Rock Cries Out (Cruisin' music)
Boom Box - Keith Green - Songs For The Sheperd (Going to sleep music)
At work - Petra - Various rockin' CD's like This Means War, On Fire, Beyond Belief, etc.
