The Petra Zone

Hello fellow Petra fans (Duh...that's why we're here!)

Just a quick intro to the room...I'm 34, married, 2 kids (2 and 9 yr. old girls), live in Des Moines, IA (capitol of corn, cows, and combines...not neccessarily in that order!). What else...oh, yeah...major PETRA fan!

First heard Petra on a Christian rock compliation cassette tape back in '90 or '91...most of the bands on it were boring, but then I got to Petra. The song was "Mine Field"...the drums and Schlitt's scream and the monster guitars in the intro of that song knocked me over. "Wow!...a Christian hard rock band that doesn't suck!". Some years later (Sept. 3, 1999, to be exact), I gave my life to Jesus, who saved me from alcohol.

My name comes from a song from the album GOD FIXATION...not only do the lyrics fit my life, but "St. Augustine's Pears" has the most awesome guitar intro stutter riff since Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" (sorry for the secular reference).

Drove 2 1/2 hours to Independence, IA to see Petra on October 20, 2004...hey Petrarocks! Glad to see your pictures turned out okay...I was the guy that took the one photo for you (didn't know if i did it right...digital camera...gosh durn newfangled technology!).

I will post another review of that show probably within the next couple of days...great show...awesome choice of songs. I hope to post here on a regular basis. That's it for now..God bless!

testimony and i think that is Awesome!
The first song of Petra that i heard, in 1995, it was Creed, but singing by
another christian artist, and in a version in Spanish, from La Coleccion
De Petra En Espa�ol, when i listen that song, wow! all parts, the music,
lyrics, i loved, time later, search the Petra�s video, Beyond Belief and
listen the original song, and the rest... is history... in the year 2002
i decide to create a Spanish website of Petra called, M�s All� De La Fe
(Beyond Belief), the purpose is show the world how the Lord cant use to a
rock band to proclamate the word of Jesus Christ, and the second purpose is
of course, a place to all the Spanish Petheads... (well, i talk much )
This is some that i like share with you, and others Petheads... and... what
more i cant say? just that, We Wanna See Jesus Lifted High!

Welcome! St. Aug Pears is by far my favorite song on that CD. Please post often. There are are alot of cool Petra websites to visit. If you click on the 'Memberlist' link up top you can find several websites.

Do you have a name so we don't have to call you St. Augustine or Pears? That sounds sort of strange. Elo and I are the nosy ones you'll find out pretty quickly.

Make sure and tell Elo your birthday, she keeps up with all that. I can't believe how well she does with that!

You will find a lot of great people here on the zone, many of us have met at concerts and have become friends, which is so cool. Some of us visit each other or e-mail each other regularly. Maybe we will see you at a PETRA concert. Would love to meet you.
