original "not of this world"
Does anyone have like an original LP or cassette copy of "Not of this World"? I have a CD version of it....since it originally came out before CDs, I know it has to be a re-release.........only thing is, the track-listing on the inside of the album is like completely different from the actual track listing on the back of the CD, and the CD itself

.....
I'll have to look at my LP, but i think that the track listing is still the same, they don't usualy change the track line up between LP & CD. Now they used to change the cassette line up back in the late 70s to early 80s to cut down on tape cost, they would find ways of lining up the tracks on the cassette so they didn't have to pay for the longer tapes.
But the cassette i own is also the same track listing as the CD.
I think it was just the artwork of the album, maybe somebody got to the art work before the line up was actualy done.

There are a couple of cassettes that were re-arranged for time and continuity. That was not uncommon world-wide.
The only record that I am aware of, that is different than the CD (or vise versa) was Captured in Time and Space. The record has more of Greg talking one extra song on it before It is Finished.

Putting the Matter to Rest
Oddly enough, this is the only Petra album that I have in all 3 formats, so I'll solve this one for you. On the back of the album cover, it lists the songs in alphabetical order. This is the same image reproduced on the back of the CD booklet. However, on the LP itself, the songs are listed (and recorded) in the same order as the cassette and the CD.

differences
I think there are more differences than that... some of the songs are slightly longer on the album and cassette, for example. It's rather jarring the first time you hear the CD after listening to one of the others! I don't know if the vinyl and cassette are different.brent wrote:There are a couple of cassettes that were re-arranged for time and continuity. That was not uncommon world-wide.

Come and Join Us had a different track order on the vinyl than on the cassette/CD. See this page on my site for the differences: http://www.guidetopetra.com/CJU

And too
If you look at the cassette to "PETRA" their first album
The track listing is all different from the LP/CD.
