I see Newsboys jumped to Inpop Records. I hope they do a better with them. They don't represent Petra very well.

Peter Fuller (newsboys) is a majority owner of Inpop Records. Did Newsboys sign with Inpop?

i'm suprised Newsboys only just now got signed to the record label they actually own, that's kinda weird..or maybe it's just me..and I do agree inpop sucks at promoting Petra (how many singals did they release from J&H? 3? And none of them really went anywhere either..)
interesting move

Intersing move on the Boy's part... I am not sure how much we can blame Inpop for what has happened to Petra, they are a fairly small record company... You can also look at it this way, the Newsboy's popularity might just bring in enough revenue for Inpop to let Petra make a couple more albums.

I wouldn't blame Inpop for the lack of industry interest in Petra. There is a TREMENDOUS amount of resistance to Petra in the CCM industry, for whatever reason, even though clearly people do like the music. To my memory, Inpop did everything they could to get singles played and CDs sold. They can't FORCE radio stations to play songs, you know. And you can call every song on the album a "single," but without airplay you're just talking.
My personal opinion: it's going to take a real groundswell of love for Petra... meaning, LOTS of CDs sold... on the next one, for the CCM industry to take notice. My understanding is that that's what happened with Petra Praise 2... Word didn't really promote it, but it grew legs on its own until the radio stations and the GMA and whoever had to sit up and take notice.
Money talks. If it makes money, the industry starts talking. If they don't smell cash, despite the best efforts of Inpop or anyone else, they'll turn up their noses.
