Thank you Petra, for sparking my interest in music at a time where I could have followed a secular path instead!

It's a time we all knew would be comming, but it is still sad to me. I hope they can do one more live album, but if not, I understand. Petra was the first group to really influence me through music, and has been and will always be my favorite overall band.

It is a shock to me, I really don't know what to say at this time, but my heart is really sour at CCM right now; It's been like this for a few years. I really don't think I will continue to buy CCM stuff.

Aww man! God Bless Petra for their 33 years of undying ministry!

Oh and executioner...that;s why I buy underground Christian metal :P

I am really beginning to hate the CCM industry. All they care about is making money and not ministry. :x

I don't know about you guys, but Petra has been a mainstay in my life since 1981 or '82. I can't help but feel like I'm losing one of my best friends. I had such high hopes for them after the release of J&H and Bob's return to touring. I wish things would have turned out better as far as support and appreciation for the ministry are concerned.
God bless you guys--past and present! Thank you for all the wonderful years and memories! Thanks, Bob, for allowing the Lord to write through you all the songs that have touched me deeply and made me think. You guys never compromised and always pointed us toward the One who truly matters and is worthy of all our praise. Your unwavering testimony will be sorely missed in today's secularized, watered-down CCM industry.
Take care and know that you were and are loved by more people than you could ever know!

I feel about the CCM industry like Jesus did about the merchants in the temple. It would be fabulous for Petra's retirement to shine some light on things and although it will be too late for Petra, maybe it will cause some people to take a good introspective look at the business and make some changes.

I can't say that I am surprised at their decision, but I can't help being saddened. I too feel like I will be losing a best friend. I hope that a fall tour does work out so that we can say goodbye with all the love and appreciation they deserve.

Keep your thoughts balanced, though... after all, that same "corrupt CCM industry" was the one that financed the rise of Petra to the prominence they once had. I've read a biography of the 2nd Chapter of Acts that mentioned how flabbergasted they were with that kind of thing in the early 80's, which was just when Petra was becoming more and more successful. Without that money from the industry, many of us may never have heard of Petra. And besides, there have always been people who were artists with their hearts after God within CCM. Make sure you don't throw out the baby with the bath water!

I wonder if it would be possible if they could release a history of Petra on DVD to coincide with the farewell tour? This would be a wonderful tribute to them.
