PETRA'S tour fall 2005

Post by SolidRockStrength » Wed May 11, 2005 1:59 am

I read the post about Petra retiring and it hurts. I literally grew up with listening to Petra(i am 31 now). If Jekyll and Hyde is the last album, unless we are blessed with a live album, IT WAS THE BEST FINAL ALBUM EVER!
I compete in powerlifting and have spent more hours than I can count slamming Iron to Petra. With a heavy heart ,would everyone and anyone has tour dates for PETRA in this final year please post them. I live in Danville Kentucky(45 minutes south of Lexington)and have vacation days to use to see PETRA. Please post all dates on the forums.

God Bless PETRA!

I live in Greenville, SC. It would be nice if they did the live recording here since that is where they did the CITAS recording before but I hope they at least make it to the Carolinas in their farewell tour. The blog on mjanke's xanga site says it all for me ...

SolidRockStrength...It's Clint right?

I met you and your wife at ShoutFest last year here in KY.

Remember when John said there was a new CD coming from Inpop?
Well, it looks like that may not be the case now, huh?

IM me sometime...it would be good to hear from you again.

Hey guys, I live in Lexington, KY (as if you couldn't tell). If there is anything happening around here, we'll get a lead on it from the Zone. Just keep checking in. There's no way I'll miss out this year if they are anywhere within reason.

RockOn,

Yeah its me. Just about hit the floor literally and emotionally over this announcement. I just saw a post and went to the h2oartistagency site and saw PETRA will be in Lexington, Ohio on August 20th. Its 4 hours from Lexington. I'm gonna check things out but it looks like I will be there. I have to check on the time of the concert but this looks good. My wife has committed to going to 2 Petra concerts before they retire. This may be one of them. I would like to hit Nashville too, but I would rather attend the final concert if its within a 12 hour drive. I hope they wind up the tour near Nashville, but we'll see! Shoot me an email at [email protected] just label it so I can recognize it(I get a lot of junk)

Hello Clint,

I thought that was you, but I wanted to be certain.

I told my wife that it was a MUST that I attend at least one final Petra concert before they head off into the sunset--so Ohio or Nashville may be it (depending on where else they may be).

I would LOVE to see the final concert as well, but that's also depending upon how far away it is. But, just like the reunion concert, no matter how far it is, I'm sure it will prove to be well worth it.

Maybe I'll see you, your wife, and even LexingtonPethead at one of these events.

Take care.

Well, unless I find one closer than Lexington, OH, that will probably be the one I attend. If anyone confirms it, please let us know how or where we can get tickets. :D

Hopefully, I'll run into you guys!

I called about the Lexington, Ohio concert and it is part of a one day festival with Sonicflood, Big Daddy Weave and ZoeGirl. Petra will go on at 6:00pm and have a full hour. The number listed is a gentleman who has a phone message that just tells the number you called. I didn't leave a message but he called me back wanting to know who I was. The festival is called the Fog Festival and the website will be up in a couple of weeks and tickets would be $25 for the festival.

This looks like a real possibility for me, but I do want to go to a concert where Petra has all the time needed to just jam.

Thanks for the info on the Lexington, OH show. I'm with you on this. I'd rather attend a concert fully dedicated to Petra, but I don't know that we'll find it anywhere close to here if anywhere at all. But if that's all there is, I'll take it and be thankful that it's not too late even for that.

I sure do hope we'll have a chance to meet the guys after the show. I met Ronnie, Louie, and John Lawry during the Beyond Belief tour, but I've especially wanted to meet John and Bob but never had the chance.

Guys let me try and talk to Jeff James the exec.dir. from Ichthus and see what he would think about Petra being at the grounds or something I talked to him about some stuff during Icthus and he was talking about having a retro nite and we talked about Petra, and seemed to really like them maybe I could go and see him and see what he would think about them being there for just a big Petra concert.

New songs

Post by BriGuyPEI » Sat May 14, 2005 8:52 am

Here's a thought. We all know that Petra will not be releasing a new studio album. But I'm sure that they already have a handful of songs that they really like. So why don't they add some of their favourite new songs to the setlist of their farewell tour? That way they can share them with the fans without needing a new album. And if they show up on a live album, then so much the better.

The other alternative would be to stick a few new studio recordings on the end of their live album release. Like a "Side 4" of a double album. Heck, it worked for KISS with Alive II.

New Songs

Post by Bill F » Sat May 14, 2005 9:04 am

I was thinking the exact same thing. Anthology Live could have new songs in the live set. Then, for radio play they could have a couple of extras at the end in the studio version.

I was also thinking that this could all work out very well for John's solo career. Since there will be no conflicts with Petra, Bob could contribute some material as well. If he only did three or four songs per album we would see his best stuff. Could be interesting.

A couple things. First, the live album is not a done deal. In fact, I would lean more toward thinking it is unlikely at this point.

Second, it is extremely unlikely those songs will be played live. As I said in another thread, I have some stuff I will put online next week that addresses this topic.

I hate living in the middle of nowhere and being flat broke. No chance for me to see them again.

I generally don't care for live albums, but I hope they do make one! It seems quite fitting, as their last live album also marked the end of an era.

Whether new songs appear or not is irrelevant to me-though it would be cool. I just want 'a last'. There is just something about picking up an album and putting it on 'knowing' this is it. I wonder if would help to beg. (of course if it did, I'd probably be saying 'don't quit! ahhaaa...' ).
