Surprised Yet?

Is anyone else surprised that it's almost noon EST on Thursday, and STILL there is no announcement on Petraband.com concerning the big news???
I know I should be more patient, but, just once, I would like to see some timely information coming from there.
I don't want to be judgemental, but it seems like Petra is surrounded by people who aren't as interested in getting their message out as they were.

Josh's report says that Wayne has been trying to talk John into retiring for five years. I would think he'd be right on top of this one. OH... did I say that out loud???

Yeah...you'd think!
Amen to that brother.

Well, let's be fair. What Wayne said was that he had been talking with John about "exit strategy" for five years. He didn't say he was trying to talk them into retiring. It is a given that all bands have to either break up or retire at some point, so it makes sense to plan for when that will happen.
Regarding the press release, Wayne just told me he will send me the press release as soon as it's ready (I don't know when that will be). As soon as I get it, I will post it on PRMW and I will probably also email it through my newsletter system. I don't know how long it'll take to get it on petraband.com ...

I disagree. Bands do not have to break up, and they do not have to retire. The only thing they have to do is die some day. I just went to a Kansas/REO Speedwagon concert last Friday to prove it!
Kansas: first album=1974
REO Speedwagon: first album=1971
Now, I don't know about REO but I'll give you that Kansas had their period where they disintegrated, then they unofficially disbanded, then they finally got back together, but the lineup we saw Friday was very nearly the 1974 lineup (missing one guitar/keyboard player and with a different bass player). Both bands rocked the socks off all those drunk people!

I think what Josh meant was the only thing that will last forever is God. There is a time and a purpose for everything under heaven. At some point there will be no REO, and along with the cockroaches, the Stones will end at some point.

Welp... it's 5pm Nashville time. All of Wayne's hard work apparently did not pay off. Josh's article was posted two days ago, so he's had at least two days to finish his press release. Doesn't he even care enough about Petra to publish their retirement statement on time???

The Blind Boys of Alabama have been around since the 30s. Original members still play.
IMO, Petra could've gone at least that long.

I agree with Charl. They could have retired from the road but still recorded music. Look at the band Boston. Their first came out in '76, but they were together before that. They're still putting out new music and touring and show no sign of slowing down.
I bet down the road Bob and John will put somthing together again. If the Eagles can do it, so can Petra.

That's what I'm saying. I expect something to happen, some sort of reunion or comeback. Is it pathetic clinging or refusal to accept facts? No...probably just a healthy cynicism.
reunion

It's too early to really hope for a reunion, of course... when the band itself hasn't even officially made their announcement of quitting! ...but if they put together any kind of reunion, I'd have to say it would need to be either the crew from the early 80's (Volz Dream Team) or the late 80's/early 90's (Schlitt Dream Team). And Louie would DEFINITELY have to be back in.
For any of those things to happen, it would have to be a major God Thing, I think. I get the sense that lots of those folks are glad to have Petra behind them.
