There's a fairly complete list
here. This list does not yet include some of the people who played with Petra on tour but never on an album. BTW... if anyone wants to write up bios for some of these folks, or edit the existing bios, fire away! (Especially the red links need bios posted!)

I wonder how Greg and Paul are feeling about this. And Louie, too.

Greg and Paul should be okay; they shouldn't have trouble getting other jobs. I could imagine Louie being sort of be glad he's not still in Petra and is working with Viktor at this point. They probably all figured it would happen sometime even if they didn't know for sure when.

When I talked about this to Penny the other day, all I said was "God had a hand in Louie's departure.". She agreed and I left it at that. This allowed Louie to make contacts through his bus driving and their other business to allow them to hook up with other people to start their Viktor ministry and Louie's ministry.
God's timing is a whole lot better then hours!!!

I've always thought band members left when it was time for them to, no matter how much a part being imperfect humans played in it. God is in control no matter how things might look. They left when their time with Petra was done and it was time for them to move on.

You are probably right about that.

You can talk about the 'revolving door' until the cows come home but bottom line is that these guys had to survive. I'm sure there were many band members who WANTED to stay but could not AFFORD to stay. Lonnie moving on to TAIT, Bryce moving on to RSJ, Trent moving on to a solo career, Pete moving on to a solo effort, etc.....these are all prime examples. Of course the revolving door of band members did not help the band at all but what do you expect these guys to do when they have mouths to feed?

I think part of their problem in getting media attention or industry respect, or whatever you want to call it, was Petra' revolving door with band members.
Someone want to give a run down of the total list of Petra members?
What!! it's my understanding that if Louie was still about there would be no JAH and Petra would have retired 2 or 3 years ago.

I have a whole thing about this that I'm going to put up on the Guide here pretty soon. Doug and Jerry Gaskill very nearly ended up in the vintage 1979 Petra. In fact, from what I read, it sounds like Greg X. Volz may have introduced the two.

What a cluster that would have been. A gay, pot smoking Petra member.
