Here's what I remember (please correct me if I have this wrong):

John hired a guy to do both his own website and the petrafanclub website... However, after a while the guy became unresponsive... he would hardly ever update either site. There was a falling out and this guy basically decided he would take down both websites. He also decided he wouldn't relinquish either domain name to John (even though it "johnschlitt.com" is obviously HIS name!). John could have fought this successfully, in my opinion, but he didn't pursue it.

Sue and company took over as custodians of John's site, but they had to change the domain name to use his middle initial (W) since the original webmaster wouldn't give up control of the domains.

There still is no petrafanclub replacement... In my conversations with John, it seems he feels there's no need to resurrect the fan club because Petra fan sites and messageboards fill that need.

If you want to know what a site looked like in the past, use the wayback machine at archive.org.

Hereare the results for petrafanclub.

Interesting with petrafanclub.com......I think I remember something about it, but I dont' remember it as well as John's site situation.

Well, not exactly.

The guy (Jeremy DeYoung) volunteered to do a Petra site - not a Schlitt site. He wasn't paid - he did it on a volunteer basis. He owned the server, the domain name, content, all of it.

When Curt and I started doing a Schlitt site - we asked Jer if we could host it on his server. Jer had previously bought up johnschlitt.com but hadn't done anything with it, so we simply moved our content to his server and used that domain name.

We kept updating johnschlitt.com, and I gave some content to petrafanclub, but Jer did not do much else with the site after a while.

Things were going fairly well, but we were having a hard time with Jer loading our content. He then accused us of loading a virus onto the site, which in turn infected all his servers.

Scans of both Curt's and my computers turned up no such virus, but Jer was convinced we did it.

So he took away our access, shut down johnschlitt.com and refused to give us access to any of our content. In due time he shut down petrafanclub.com too, but he kept the rights to both domain names and wouldn't give either one back, despite numerous attempts by us and John himself to get it back.

It was a very frustrating time... that's when MJ came into the picture, and reloaded what we had left and rebuilt the rest under johnWschlitt.com. I also own johnschlitt. net too, if you care to use that domain name.

Yeah, I remember that too...It's so sad when people behave that way. You reap what you sow though, he'll answer for his actions.

After The Petra Zone switched from .com to .net, it took me a long time before I finally found out. I kept searching for "thepetrazone.com" and kept coming up with no results.

Now it's up for renewal again... just got the notice the other day.

Man, how time flies when you're having fun (?).

OH man... the one day I come here to see what's going on... and we are dredging up old crummy times!!!

You guys seriously have no idea how hard it was dealing with jer. He was a HUGE jerk. We were TOTALLY last on his list of priorities, and it was SO hard to get things going.

I'm thinking that if they reap what the sew... I think Wayne and Jer will be sewen together by the pants and beaten with a wet noodle for years!!!

I'm sorry... did I say that outloud? :)
