Frequency of concert dates

Having stored Petra's concert tour dates for JohnWSchlitt.com in a database gives us the unique possibility of actually examining the schedule from the last couple of years to see how many shows Petra has been performing.

In 2003, Petra played 27 concerts. In 2004, they played 53, and this year there are 61 scheduled or completed.

For October, November and December of this year, Petra has 19, 11 and 12 shows scheduled, respectively. The last time they played more than 9 concerts in the same month since January of 2003 was September last year (12). Other notable months: June 2004 (9), July 2004 (8), August and October of 2004 (7 each), April 2004 and this & next month (6 each). For all other months, there have been 5 or fewer concerts.

The way our data is stored it is difficult to determine how many of those are U.S. and how many are International, but I'd guess maybe what, almost a 50/50 split?

It's good to be working, eh guys?

The only reason that they are working is because they are doing two other bands, lights and sound for dirt cheap. The band isn't making any real money. No more than a good bar band would make in your home town.

Plus, it's a "farewell tour" for a band that a lot of people have warm fuzzy memories of. But wait a minute... isn't the whole point of this to get in front of people? I don't believe in bands going in the hole consistently, but if the goal is to minister to folks, seems like working cheap isn't that terrible of a plan for a little while.

You definitely are the King of Stats, MJ!

BTW, what a band doesn't make in honorarium they can make up for it in merch sales.

Face it - after this year, there will not be much of a demand or outlet for sales.

I wonder if we will see things on e-bay, like last Petra show tickets, unworn T-shirts, picks, etc.

The smell of the gears screaching to a halt.

I am not a betting man. But, my money is on no comeback, and John moving on.

John probably will move on. John is set for life. He probably doesnt have to worry about anything to do with money for the rest of his life

You shouldn't make assumptions, Rich, and I'm detecting a sarcastic attitude that isn't right. The majority of people in CCM don't make a great deal of money. That wasn't what the thread was about anyway.

I wish that I was bigtime and had lots of money.

I only know what I see and hear for myself.

Let the bones lie dead, that's all.
