I couldn't find the topic, but not long ago we were discussing Petra's options without a label, doing the release of a record on their own. Someone, possibly Execussioner maybe(?), suggested that Journey was doing things in house. Well, they gave up. They had been signed to Frontiers all along for foriegn distribution, and now we see that Journey have signed to Sanctuary Records for a US release of their new album Generations.
Quoting: "The album will be released October 4 and will feature the same track listing as the Japanese release. That's good news for fans hanging out to hear the Deen Castronovo sung It's Never Too Late and the additional Jonathan Cain sung track Pride Of The Family. However, this is not so good news for those that have pre-ordered the ultra expensive Japanese import already."
Indie option for Petra based on Journey

They didn't give up. They got a deal they couldn't refuse and got total control over material based items. Which is an artists dream. Aerosmith has somewhat the same deal with their label.
