Last US Concert - GA

Post by BForm » Thu Sep 15, 2005 8:55 am

Here it is guys. The last Petra concert will be held in Dawsonville, GA on December 30th. I just talked with the promoter and he has specifically made this a PETRA ONLY concert so they would have two to three hours to really put on a show.

PETHEAD CONVENTION 2005?

Since this is going to be over the Christmas break, Petra's last show, and Petra will be given the whole night, shouldn't this be a PETHEAD convention? This could be awesome.

I want to thank Eddie Clarke for having the guts to do what many of us have talked about doing. Since it's going to be a special night, he wants to do a DVD of it as well. We need to give this guy our support to make this a great night.

Brent, from your posts you seem like one of the most level headed, knowledgeable guys in this community. What ideas do you have? I think he's going to need some technical support.

3 concerts in Georgia in one year. That's just too much.

Hi fellow Petheads!

My name is Eddie Clarke and I'm really excited that God's given me the opportunity to organize Petra's last concert here in GA.

Tickets will be available online in about three weeks.

I'm currently looking for companies in the Atlanta area that can film Petra's last concert and put out a great quality DVD. If the record company agrees, we might be able to do a DVD/CD combo? Any leads are welcome.

As Bill pointed out, this is going to be a Petra only concert so they'll have plenty of time to do a lot of their great stuff. I'm hoping they can do at least three hours, if not more!

All your questions and comments are welcome. Keep me in your prayers. And pray that God will open doors so that this dream of a live Petra concert DVD will become a reality!

God bless you all,

Eddie

Before we get carried away, I think we need to be absolutely sure this will be the last show. The reason I say that is because there were rumors that there was going to be a show on Dec 31 (New Years Eve), and the location was NOT in Georgia. It is possible that the band and management are working out the details of such a show, but cannot post it until it is definite. From looking at Mapquest, Dawsonville, Ga is not exactly easily accessible, which in my mind, does not make it a very viable option for anything like a huge gathering/convention.

Now, IF we can get someone who actually knows to say, "Yes, this will be the last show," then I will be onboard, and will find a way to get there. I am fortunate in that the company I work for is on shutdown that week, but lots of folks are not. Dec 30th is a Thursday, which is awkward.

I am not trying to be a wet blanket or party pooper (heaven forbid, right Sue?), but I'd hate to see people disappointed. You say that the promoter WANTS to do a DVD; I think we should wait until we hear what kind of response he gets.

John's Solo?

Post by BForm » Thu Sep 15, 2005 10:23 am

Calico, the reason why I assumed this would be the last concert is because John is already scheduled to do a youth event on the 31st in SC. I would hope they wouldn't try to make that a Petra concert because I doubt they will be given much freedom since it is only part of another event. In fact, I believe Eddie was trying to get Petra for the 31st anyway and it wasn't available.

As for the location, trust me, Dawsonville is no more out of the way than Sheboygan, WI. Both Gainesville and singing, GA would have plenty of hotel space, and it's a very short drive from the North side of Atlanta.

If there is some big event planned for somewhere else, say the Midwest, oh well. I'll take Georgia in the winter anyway.

It's the last.

I just talked to the promoter again. He said Scott Huie told him they were trying to do something in Nashville on the 30th but that wasn't going to happen then. Scott said since John is booked on the 29th and 31st, this will be the last concert.

Be praying about the DVD/CD deal. Eddie is working out the details but I won't try to steel all of his thunder. Also, it sounds like the church has an incredible sound system, unlike many of the places Petra has played.

BForm,

How far is Dawsonville away from Knoxville, Tn? We will be up that way for the Holidays and this looks like it might be doable.

Distance to Atlanta

Post by BForm » Thu Sep 15, 2005 11:36 am

Atlanta is about 250 miles from Nashville and about the same from Knoxville. There are no cheep flights from either of those two areas since Air Tran does not fly there.

Dawsonville may actually be a little closer since you wouldn't actually have to come into Atlanta but could cut over on Hwy 53. Then again, country roads tend to be a bit slower. I've never taken that drive before.

BTW, BForm is formerly Bill F (Bill Formella). I could not get the Bill F name to work with my password, and when I tried to reset it, it said my e-mail address was different than what was on file. I don't know what happened but I'll just use the new one from now on.

23 days till Peachtree city. After toccoa my son has been telling everybody how great Petra is. He wanted to go with me to see John Ruben but now he tells every body he is going to see petra.

This would be 21 times. Sounds like a good number.

I doubt I'll be able to go, but if they make a DVD/CD of it, well, that's half the fun! If they play a longer concert, they will be able to add to their setlist!!

I got an e-mail from Petra's manager stating that they were planning on a making a live DVD for sale this fall. It will be a double disk CD/DVD!

As far as filming the December 30 concert, it wouldn't work. But it doesn't matter where it gets filmed because we've been waiting for a live CD/DVD for a long time!

Convention

Post by BForm » Mon Sep 19, 2005 3:30 pm

That's right Eddie. I still think this will be the best opportunity, and a very fitting one, for a Pethead convention. The Tuesday night in November is just not going to be workable for a lot of people. This one is over the Christmas break. Besides, this will be the last US concert, unless the band returns from Europe in 2006 to do another?
