OK...so what happened?

Post by RockOn » Sun Sep 25, 2005 8:16 pm

Not that I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, but what happened in between the time Josh (PetraRocksMyWorld.com) announced that Petra would not be recording another album and the recent news of the live CD?

Who changed their mind?

Was there just such an outpouring of fan support for a new CD? Did Bob and/or John talk the people at Inpop into it? Was Inpop the initiator?

Who has the inside scoop?

I don't think Josh or anyone else ever said there would be no live CD. People have doubted it, but it looks like the doubts were wrong.

Clarification...

Post by RockOn » Mon Sep 26, 2005 8:02 am

When the news of the band's initial retirement was announced through PRMW, it was reported that there would be no new studio album as once thought--but that kind of gives the impression that there would be no new albums of any kind since their retirement was imminent.

According to a few sources on the internet, Bob and John wanted to see a live CD come about to showcase Paul and Greg, but that was (at one time) just a want.

So now I was wondering, how did this go from a want to a reality? Was it the fan outcry, Petra themselves, Inpop or a combination? Who/what was the ultimate source/factor to say "Yeah, let's do this."

The key is in the statement itself - no studio album. This is a live album :)

Point taken BigD :)

I was ultimately trying to figure out who we have to thank for this live CD/(hopefully/eventually DVD).

Who really pressed for it and made it happen?

It's not important...just curiosity on my part. :)

Just to clarify: I reported that Petra would not be recording a STUDIO album. Bob had written some songs and music for a studio album, all of which hit the dust bin when they decided to retire.

In my reporting about the retirement, Bob, John and Wayne all said that a final live album was a remote possibility. They were all hopeful it would happen but skeptical Inpop would back it.

The negotiating has been going on for a while, and thankfully Inpop is really supporting Petra in this.

Thanks for the clarification Josh.

With the live CD initially being a remote possibility, I was just wondering how it came to fruition...how it went from remote to definite...who are the main people to thank.

It looks like we can thank all parties involved...the fans for the support...the band for fighting for this...and Inpop for following through.

Just another reason to thank Inpop for their support and belief in Petra.
