I had not heard these guys or heard of them really before the other night.
Was anyone else BLOWN away with their ability?
I don't want anyone to misunderstand me -- I loved Louie, and I thought Lonnie Chapin and Ronny Cates were awesome --- BUT
I think this might be the strongest line-up of musicians Petra has ever had!
The double-bass stuff that Paul was throwing down was sooo spot-on! I really regret that their hardest album comes so late! I would have loved to have heard Greg and Paul in the studio (I don't guess they recorded J&H)
Greg has some major chops on bass as well --- I was just so amazed at how clean and precise everything was for them. And then Greg taking out the cello---wow!

The way they sound is largely because of Greg and Paul...They are very good at what they do. Greg has a good voice too. And they seem like really sweet guys besides.
All of the Petra members have brought something to the group, but you're right, this is a very strong line up.
New Band?

Could them two be the start of a new band??? That could happen...either that or they will play for John's solo stuff.

I've said this before and will say it again this is by far the strongest lineup Petra has ever had. They bring a strong chemistry to the live show and are top notch musicians.

I asked Paul what his plans were after Petra and he said he didn't know yet, but felt that God was beginning to show him some things.
I also overheard Paul and John Lawrey being pretty chummy and saying that they reall wanted to stay in touch and they exchanged cards. --- could this be the beginning of a Petra "spin off" band?

Nice to meet you and your wife crossways.
I really thought they were on the top of they game. They were really jamming. I thought Paul was wild. He was defineatly into it. They were all smiling alot (not as much Bob), but they all were.
Crossways, now that you have your guitar signed are you going to play it or keep it for showing off? Maybe you could post us a picture of it now that its signed.

I was very impressed and I really like what they bring to the table, but given the pantheon of talented musicians who have been in this band, I don't know that I could make
that claim.

I've seen Petra on every tour since Never Say Die, and in the last 2+ years i've seen them 4 times with this current lineup and there is no doubt in my mind that they are the best Petra has ever had. I've never seen Petra like this before. When I'm at a show I always pick up on mistakes and also look at chemistry. The mistakes are very few and far between and the chemistry is undeniable.
