Grove City Ohio Farewell Petra and Thank You

WOW! My wife and I just got back from our 14 hour road trip. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!After attending the live taping in Franklin I wasn't sure this FINAL Concert would be as great as the Franklin experience. BOY WAS I WRONG. It was every bit the equal and it ROCKED!
The openers were good, my favorite of the three was Bread of Stone(Farewell June and Waiting for Iris were the other ones). But on to PETRA!!!!!
This was my ninth and final Petra Concert and I was hoping to see a BIG Crowd to say farewell with and Grove City delivered. It don't think it was sold out(balcony was unused) but there was LARGE and LOUD crowd. On a personal note the crowd size was heartwarming and satisfying. And this Big crowd was there to see PETRA, PETRA, PETRA BABY!!!!!!!!!!
The set list was a little different, but not much different from the franklin taping.
PETRA opened with All About who you know, for some reason Bob's guitar sounded quiet during this song, but it was LOUD on the rest! I am pretty sure they followed with dance then onto Amazing Grace. Both were Rocking Hard. Then came Creed, this lit the place ON FIRE!!!!!. As a log time fan I stopped singing briefly during the concert a few times just to listen to this larger crowd sing. Although I didn't shed a tear then it was quite exhilirating to just hear the crowd singing along. Then came JUDAS KISS, this was spectacular and then some more, what a super classic song. After Judas Kiss BOB came up and asked if anyone had a favorite song and of course the whole place started yelling a lot of songs. Bob then explained how he said they picked a lot of favorites from a lot of albums and wanted to do a scientific poll during the medley. If it was your it was your favorie song just raise your hand. It was a funny moment that was very well recieved. Petra then ripped into the rock medley. It was the exact medley from the new CD and was TIGHT.
It was during this time I explained to my wife that online there is a myth that the when BOB is playing the Guitar the sound actually comes from his mouth, which is usually open. After the Rockin Medley, Bob ripped into Jekyll and Hyde and the crowd was kickin. Following the J&H John mentioned how it was hard to choose the rock medley but even harder to choose Slower ballad medley. They did each song from the the upcoming album ballad madley, and it was INCREDIBLE! Just hearing this medley again and knowing this was the LAST TIME I would see Petra brought tears of joy, because this band has been such a blessing. Thank You LORD!
After the Ballad Medley John and Bob spontaneously started I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. The crowd was NUTS on this one. It immediately brought everyone to their feet. It was pretty Incredible to see the reaction this got in concert. Nothing but BIG TIME PROPS TO PETRA FOR ADDING THIS ONE TO THEIR SET. Following the sing along came a MONSTER DRUM SOLO from the PAUL SIMMONS! Paul is a drum machine all to himself, he was Da' MAN. If I am correct BOB's MEGA SMASH GUITAR CRUNCHING SOLO followed Paul. Bob's solo was major sweet ear candy(I may have the solos out of order). They were OUTSTANDING. 5 out of 5 stars for Paul's and Bob's Solo!!!!
After the SOLO's came Beyond Belief. This was one happy crowd and was very, VERY well recieved. If you get the opportunity just listen to the crowd sing on this one, INCREDIBLE!!!!!!
Petra then finished the main set with Lord I lift Your Name on High, I love this song and from the response SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE.
Petra then left the stage for the curtain call and after at least one minute of LOUD Screaming they came back and Thundered out He Came, He Saw He Conquered. FANTASTIC SONG!
After this the band left the stage and Bob came forward and gave a great testimony and message. Bob then led the crowd in a prayer of salvation. Following the invitation the whole band returned to follow up the invitation with We Need Jesus! A very fitting closer for an incredible night to remember!!!!
Father God, Thank You for PETRA! I am gonna miss these guys!!!!!
In closing, all I can type is THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOR USING THE MINISTRY OF PETRA IN MY LIFE!!!! THANK YOU PETRA FOR HEEDING GOD'S CALL!!!!
I was blessed to attend nine Petra Concerts and I am very grateful!
