I, for one, am glad they never did a Christmas album.

I can't even imagine how goofy it would have been to have all the Petra guys on the album cover with hats and scarfs like that mercyme christmas album that's out right now.

I think it would have been awesome. I always up for humor... Petra is awesome.

You mean to tell me you're not the least bit curious what a Bob Hartman arrangement of "Christmas Time Is Here" would have sounded like??

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeck no.
Such a sellout.
A Petra Christmas album would mark the end of my fandom, and that is not just my typical kneejerk reaction. I've thought this through.

Hmm.. Bob said several times that he'd rather make a Easter album instead of a christmas album. Also, I don't really think Bob is into novelty stuff.

I think you just found the silver lining of the retirement.

I LOVE Christmas music... and I think Petra would have been a perfect fit. Petra's music has always been about how we as Christians can be used by God... and the Christmas story is all about how God used individuals to bring His Son into the world. God could not have done it without people. Not if Jesus was to be born (from a woman) and raised (from a helpless infant). The whole thing is about people's obedience to God.

Nope, not particularly. I'm tired of Christmas covers. I mean how many times has "Silent Night" been covered over the years? A million? I am not looking forward to the impending conversion of my local CCM stations into all-Christmas music stations. I will hear the same songs over and over in several different versions by different artists.
I'm sorry, but it wouldn't have been fresh for Petra to do a Christmas album. I could maybe see an Easter album, but like somebody else said, it would still be too gimmicky for me. Petra had enough trouble at the end doing praise albums and Double Take. A Christmas album would not have pleased the majority of their fan base. It might have ticked them off.
That's my opinion, anyway.
