If you were at the taping you would have seen one heck of a solo! they cut his synthguitar solo with John and Paul putting on quit a solo. It really rocked! And as far as the Jesus Loves You! Man that was just classic, that is what everyone remembers and loves.I personally liked hearing him do that again!

I'm hoping the DVD contains everything.

Anything with John Lawry rocks totally.

The solo on Farewell is just kind of...meh. It could have been left off. It's kind of a nice little memory lane trip for us Petheads (with one listen). I was playing Farewell in my car for a friend of mine who had never heard Petra. He loved it all. Except for that solo when he inquired, "What the crap?"

Listening to Farewell, the "keytar" solo did not have the impact it did when I heard it live. Being a creature who had never heard the CIT[A]S version (note the compromise acronym where the A is optional as depicted by its enclosure in brackets

), or seen the video, I thought it was quite entertaining while watching John playing it in Franklin. Familiarity takes the edge off the effect of the solo. When I played it for Teri, she looked at me kinda funny, too, wondering how it was done. I give John points for coming up with something that clever and innovative, even if the innovation was several years ago.

My chief complaint is that John Lawry's solo was far too short on the CD. They should have given it another minute at least.

John's solo stuff was *way* truncated on the CD. If the DVD restores all the suff he did live, you'll all be very pleased.

I must be missing something. The "jesus loves you" solo on the farewell cd was not even close to the original CITAS version. In fact a good part of it was not even in the same key. Everything about it to me just seemed "off".
I heard he had technical difficulties that night, so maybe that had something to do with it.
I also noticed on "Beyond Belief" the drummer skipped alot of fills during the bridge. Kinda took the edge out of the song for me.

John Lawry should have played longer. It was too short but I probably the only one who think he did ok.

I spent years dreaming of the day that Petra would drop keyboards altogether and play real rock and roll, so although it was nice to have Lawry back for nostalgia's sake, I think he played long enough.
Frankly, I thought that Beyond Belief would have sounded better without the extra noise.

Well I FINALLY got the Farewell CD.....sheesh.
I thought too that the keyboard solo was way too short, so I'm really looking forward to the DVD, as many of you mentioned that it really rocked live.

Petra just don't sound quit right without keyboards. I just don't picture it. Well, I won't repeat myself. Everyone knows where I stand.

Yeah, I've missed the keys too! I really like keyboards, to me it just adds a lot.

On Farewell, the keyboard solo offered nothing new to comment on. I think it was just for nastolgia because him & Volz were too much part of Petra to be left out. Too bad Louie wasn't there.

Well my take on keyboards. I've never really considered myself much a purist when it comes to music style. Personally the more "pure" a song is usually the less I like it. Although I would consider myself a die hard rocker in a sense.
I prefer it when groups "mix it up", and that includes synthesizers. It should come as no surprise when I say two of my fav albums are "Time" by ELO and Beat The System by petra.
