I haven't got the CD with me, so I cannot listen and try to figure out what he's saying. But I'm sure someone else is sitting next to his / her stereo with the Farewell CD within reach...

OK, I've listened to this multiple times and although I wouldn't bet the farm on it, I'm relatively sure John says: "Gang, we believe tonight that we are all in the right place, how about you guys?"

for those who were there.....did he introduce it twice? sounds like a dub with a couple of different words mixed in.

Well, they performed everything at least twice, but I really don't recall hearing an intro more than once for "Right Place". My guess for the sound difference is that he was moving around a lot adjusting his transmitter when he was talking some of the time, so he might have just been further away from the microphone at times.
I do remember that the intro Bob does before the rock medley was from the second run-through. I guess he didn't do an intro the first time, because the second time John looked at him and said, "Did you want to say something here?" and Bob said, "Oh yeah," then went up to the mike and did that intro.
I've been thinking about something that would be really funny for the DVD if they have a section of odd clips at the end. For those who were there, do remember during the second run-through how many times John yelled, "I don't know about you all, but I feel like dancin!!!" before "Dance"? They were having some trouble starting the song, so they started and stopped about 4 or 5 times. It was pretty comical.
nah

Nah i still disagree John definitely does not say "Gang, we believe tonight that we are all in the right place, how about you guys?"
He seems to say "Gang, we BELIEVES tonight that we are all in the right place, how about you guys?"

Ok, here is my take on what John says at the beginning. What i have done with the music was slow it down and changed the pitch to get the best sound and what I hear is what everybody else has been hearing except that he says "beliefs" and not "believes" Sounds to me they tried to dub it over the original and it didn't go to well. Over all i think they did a pretty good job in the short amount of time from the time they recorded it to the time they released it. I would say job well done.
yeah

Yeah that's it definitely John says
"Gang, we BELIEFS tonight that we are all in the right place, how about you guys?"
pretty lame really - im sure they coulda dubbed "believe" in there - who knows where "beliefs" cames from. Someone said they did multiple takes of the start of that song or something. Can't understand why the engineers made John sound like a complete quimb who cant speak english properly hey - what a great legacy to remember the guy by !?!?!

I have not yet gotten the cd sooo have not been able to listen to it to know, but it sounds like everyone is saying pretty much the same thing, I do not think it is important on how the word believe, believes, of even belief is pronounced. it still basically means the same thing. some of us hear different than others, I know that for instance, I have hearring loss in the High and low tones from ear infections from when I was little, and would not hear every enunciation of the words.
