Welp? No Grammy or Dove nominations for Petra.

OK, I was REALLY ticked about Petra not getting a nomination in SOME category for the Dove Awards. So, I did some research and discovered that Farewell was not eligible because it was released past the deadline for this year's awards. It will be eligible next year. The eligibility period is for projects released between November 1, 2004 and October 31, 2005. As we know, Farewell was released November 22, 2005.

Let's just hope everyone remembers it when it is time to submit nonimees NEXT year.

As for the Grammys -- maybe the same deal; I didn't check eligibility but I'll bet it's the same or close. Besides, there's so much trash nominated, I don't think I would consider it an insult NOT to be included.

It would be nice if they got a Dove or grammy nomination, but I'm sure that isn't what their goal is. Those things are overrated, and besides, the people who do the nominating have no taste. :P

I totally agree with this statement...but.......it would be nice to receive some lifetime achievement recognition from the GMA also.

Maybe with the Farewell DVD coming out next month -maybe that will keep Petra in the minds of those who do the nominating.
I do agree that awards aren't what it's all about, but, I also agree that I'd like to see them get recognized for Farewell as well as a Lifetime Achievement award or something like that-just as a "Thank You" for Petra's service.
