No, Anne Frank didn't commit suicide and that is what the song is about. A girl who commits suicide. If I remember right, Bob Hartman said the song was not based on any real girl specifically.

huh

Really? I didn't know that - I thoughht they actually were singing about a person they knew.

It's possible they may have been singing about someone specifically, but changed the name. I don't know for sure though. I've never read anything about it, except Bob always felt proud of that song.

That song sure prompted me to pray really really hard one day for people who are on drugs or feel alone and get into things that they can't get away from. As I was listening I felt so strongly to pray - who knows maybe that prayer raised in the heavenlies, sent an angel to keep someone from dying or giving up hope. Our war is not against flesh and blood - that war is fought in the spiritual!

Greg Volz sounds like he's crying when he sings "If only we had known her situation." I hear a quiver in his voice that sounds so real.

My Husband said I wished that my Sister could have heard that song, maybe she would still be here today. The song came out a few years after she committed suicide, she was 15 years old. Very sadthat song always brings tears to my eyes and touches my heart to pray for others too.

ook :)

That songs is beautiful and touches my heart.

That said, it reminds me of a funny incident.

I was a roadie for a local Chritsian band back in the mid 80's. At the same time, I was dating a girl called Julie. Coincidentally, they wrote a song by the same name, and the first time she heard it was in concert.

It was about a girl who was sexually active, got pregnant and then turned to Jesus in her darkest hour. Its a lovely ballad done instrumentally.

Funny thing, my Julie gave me the dirtiest look the first time she heard that song.

No accounting for taste I guess.
