Bob Hartman Rumors

I was using our church's CCLI license to download lyrics for Sunday and decided to do a search on songs penned by Bob Hartman. I ran across a song by Bob Hartman called, "Chicken Tree" that I had never heard of. A few googles later I ran across this:

Chicken Tree MP3

It does not have a great guitar riff, but it is kinda catchy in an under 6 years of age kind of way.

You can see in this webpage that they don't think it is Bob of the "veteran Petra Rockers".

But what if it really is Bob of Bob Hartman?

If Bob is penning outside the R&R genre, I'm glad he has another career.

Now I know that "Bob" is not an uncommon name and neither is "Hartman", but I thought, "Go figure! Isn't that weird!" Or maybe there is another "Bob Hartman" out there who didn't have the wisdom to go by "Robert". I remember that in the eighties there was "Steve Taylor" and some traditional music person that went by Steven V. Taylor.

GO BOB!

Hey Life Awki, I live by Grand Rapids. In Jenison, mattafact.

Additionally, Steve Taylor's real first name is Roland.

The song "Chicken Tree" was not written by Bob Hartman of Petra (aka Robert M. Hartman).

Bob (and his current publishing company, House of Bob Publishing) are affiliated with SESAC, which handles the licensing of his music (like ASCAP and BMI). For example, if someone wanted to record a new version of one of Bob's songs, or if someone wanted to sample a snippet of one of his recordings, or if they wanted to borrow some of his lyrics, etc., they can simply contact SESAC to obtain permission and a license to do so.

Bob's entire repertory can be viewed at SESAC's site at this URL:
http://www.sesac.com/repertory/asp/rwri ... cct=138540

"Chicken Tree" is not on the repertory of songs, and therefore was not written by the same Bob Hartman who founded Petra.

I hope he carry on making so good and touching lyrics and set them as free, so everyone could record them. what a dream... :(

Hey, did you notice on that site with all of Bob's published songs that he copyrighted three different titles to "Till Everything I Do"? There's "Till Everything I Do," "Til Everything I Do," and "Until Everything I Do." Personally, I think he should've gone the more gramatically-correct direction and called it " 'Til Everything I Do" (with the apostraphy).
