Question about Publishing?

I noticed on the DVD all of the different publishing companies Bob had written songs under--Dawn Treader, Petsong, House of Bob, and Songs of Lehsem. I'm just curious as to how this works? Why the need for so many different publishing companies? Also, does anyone know why some of Bob's songs that used to be copyrighted through Petsong are now copyrighted through Songs of Lehsem? Again, I'm just curious. Thanks.

99% of the time, it is beneficial to make up a name for a publishing "company". It is not as if the previous companies go out of business. they are merely the holds of those those copyrights. There are some good books to read on the record industry that would elaborate on this further. If you would like to find them, go to www.mixmag.com and check out their Mix Bookshelf.

I know nothing of Bob's business. But if you look at the records and whe the publishing companies changed, you might find some correlation between label and personel changes.
