Farewell Shows - pics or video?

Post by Schlittism33 » Thu Sep 28, 2006 6:17 pm

Hi Everyone,

My name is Stephen Riker. I am new here and proud to be a part of such a great community of people. I'm 17 yrs. old and like most of you guys ... a BIG Petra fan :P ... Anyways, I only got to attend 2 shows on the Farewell Tour and both of them just seemed to fly by WAY too fast!!!
I would REALLY like to be able to sort of re-live these concerts. The first one I went to was @ St. Joseph, MO. on October 19. which was my first Petra concert EVER! Man, I was so exited the whole show just seemed like a dream! I just couldnt believe what a good show they were STILL putting on and was BLOWN AWAY by John Schlitt's energy on stage! I mean.. by listening to any Petra song or even things like Head East Live! you can tell that he is a REAL entertainer but man nothin beats seeing him live! Sorry, I know I'm rambling here... The Second show I went to was in Waterloo, IA. on November 10th... What I was wondering was if any of you guys have any photos or video of either one of these shows?? Video would be REAL nice! I remember seeing a camera crew at St. Joseph of about four or five camera-men... The video was projected on to a screen but I dont know if it was recorded... ? Anyways, I would really like to see anything that anyone has.. it would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks guys and again I'm very excited to be apart of this forum!!

Hi Stephen! Welcome to the Zone!

You should have been here months ago... it's kinda died down since Petra retired, but there's still enough misc. stuff to yap about to keep things interesting.

Your first show was during Petra's final shows? Oh, BUMMER! What a way to start - and finish!

You can ramble on... what better topic to ramble on (other than Jesus, of course!)!

I know what you're saying about John... when I watch John on old vids - or even currently - he does know how to work a crowd. And you know - much of that came from his days in Head East, playing before thousands of screaming, yelling fans. All that knowledge & experience did not go to waste - God knew what he was doing when he put John with Petra.

I checked with the St. Jo church a while back... they said they didn't save the tape - it was just for projection purposes.

Don't know about the other one, though, but here's the promoter's email: [email protected]

Good luck!

Sue,

Thanks for the promoter info! I will check into that! ... They didnt save the St. Joseph show??? Oh I wonder why? That was such a great show!! The crowd was very energetic and the band seemed fueled by it! Oh well, forever in my memory I guess ;)

I can't imagine why they wouldn't save it - although you ARE supposed to get permission to tape. In-house projection is one thing - taping & keeping it is another.

How was the attendance at Waterloo? I'm working on sending the guys there again, and was wondering how big or small the crowd was?

True point about the Projection\Taping thing!! (I always ask permission before recording anyone in any form- audio or video)

The Attendance at Waterloo was not bad for the size of the venue. We got there early and got as close to the front as we could so I wasnt looking through a crowd a lot but I would guess a couple hundred. I know we waited in line for autographs FOREVER it seemed (he he) and some people had went on home right after the concert was over. So I think it was a pretty good turnout and everyone that was there seemed to be (as John would say) FANATICS!! The crowd was VERY loud! 2 or 3 hundred might be considered small by some, but we would definently be what you consider "Small and Mighty!" ha ha I have very good memories of that show!!! Hope the guys at Waterloo will be able to make it happen again this year!!!
