Sings a bit like John Schlitt
I just found this video of an amateur band covering the song "Never been any reason" from Johns Head East past.
The sound is not too good and the video a bit borring but note that the singer is very good at imitating John Schlitts way of singing:

I agree that nobody can compare to John! He's really in a league of his own! SO original!! Gotta love his style! On the Head East record the first voice singing is a guy named Steve Huston who also was the drummer. Roger stuck mostly with harmonies. I agree that the first guy singing in the cover band sounds "more" like John but still doesnt come close! The guy singing Johns part seems to lack the passion and attitude that John has always had! Still.. not a bad cover of Never Been Any Reason.

I've actually never bothered to listen to Head East, till last weekend. I had rented the DVD for the movie Sahara and in the end credits they said that they used Never Been Any Reason by Head East somewhere in the movie. And I didn't even recognise John's vocals... Guess I was too much into the movie to consciously notice any of the music. I'll have to watch that movie again, just to hear the song.
