Well, it's a nice thought, but it's not likely. :) They had to retire at some point.

I agree. But the simple fact that there's now a classic Christian rock station is pretty sweet. It doubled my already considerable respect for the state of Iowa. Mmmcorn.

Yeah, where were those classic rock stations a few years ago? It's a bit late in the game for Petra now...

The west coast rules...The midwest is too cold in the winter time for us spoiled Californians... :D

CCM didn't really have 'classic rock.' The Christian music scene wasn't really old enough to know what CLASSIC was.

They're getting the picture, finally.

The Prodigal is also hosting one of the John & Bob concerts... (if they get their contract in).

I had offered to publicize this station for them.... but they never sent me anything to go by. Odd.

West Coast vs. Midwest? As far as Petra goes -- the Midwest has you guys beat hands down!

I've been trying ALL YEAR to get someone to host a show out there... and no luck. They all say they WANT to - but no one is jumping on the bandwagon.

Come on, Californians! Kick it in gear!

Yeah, you're right about the midwest being better about Petra concerts than Cali has been...California doesn't have much of a Christian concert circuit to speak of, at least not in L.A., which is sad. (Or if there is, maybe I just haven't talked to the right people). I don't really know why that is...I know Julie has done a lot to try to get them out here. Cost is probably part of it, but there are probably other factors too. Do all the concert promoters live in the midwest or something? Just speculating here. Maybe I should check that out and try to see what could be done about it. At this point I'm so buried in school I don't have time for much else. Sigh.

Cali has better winter weather though. :)

I have to say that this, IMO is very selfish(to the band). They deserve a break. What more do people want another couple of albums? This is kinda like an ungrateful attitude. Petra gave us 33 years of great music and 20+ albums.

I think what Winterlens was referring to was that he was glad to finally see someone connected to CCM who appreciated Petra. The petition itself isn't particularly significant, and won't bring them back. It was time for them to retire, and all the petitions in the world won't change that.

Hey Sue.
Are there any concerts somewhere between LA and pheonix arizona? I live in LA and like you said there aren't any in California  . I'm asking because my uncle over in pheonix is launching a church and invited us to come at around january 15th. Are there any concerts then?

No, sorry. We've been really trying to get something in CA, but it's like everyone is waiting for someone else to jump - and then they'll follow suit.

So far they're not jumping. Yet.

CA has a different breed of "christian" singers floating around churches, etc. They are the type that you see on TBN, the corny ones that are pumped as successful recording artists, when they are nobodies from a bar. Nothing wrong with singers from bars getting saved. But, some of these people are more than generous with their success stories.

Man! It's crazy how many teens haven't even heard of petra in CA! Just maybe three out of twenty four (in my school anyway) and I'm not even joking! I go to a sort of homeschool-charterschool and half the kids are christian but that doesn't seem to make a difference in the amount of people who've heard of petra. It seems like the only christian bands they like are Switchfoot and Reliant K. The teens that have heard of petra aren't even fans. I only know one person who might be considered a fan and she's a teacher. It gets a little annoying being the only fan around here. I'm trying to get my friends to like petra and my farewell cd has been lent out to different friends for almost a month :) (and still no fans).

People in the industry don't even know who they are. We have nationals come through once every couple of months. They think that they remember the name, but have not heard of Bob or John. When John and I were walking through GMA Week last year, some younger people that Petra had played with came to say hi, but I could see other bands around them asking who that was. It makes me want to do a video show on the whole history. Radio too. Forgot. Radio is dead.
