Better Titles for new CD
Ok, I have a story. This was when I was uh...not living as I should.
My friend Bob Warne had a purple 73 Cuda. Cool car. We used to go to the "midnight drags" just outside of Tulsa and kick butt. Bob and I were out one night, looking for some fun. We used to frequent a club on Brookside in Tulsa, which had free pizza and beer on Wednesday nights. So, we would go party with the Oral Roberts University baseball team, dance with the girls, etc. One day the club went queer. Brent, Bob and queers don't mix well. So we had nothing to do. We drove to a Quick Trip (convenience store based in Tulsa) to get some gas and a KooLee (better than an ICEE!). We were met by a cop. He asked about the car. We talked hot rods and such for 30 minutes (see they don't just eat donuts). We all left. We drove back down Brookside, and noticed some pimps in fur coats and funky cars. We popped out a gas powered BB gun and took out a couple of windows. We hauled out of there. We did a 180, entered onto I44. I did one of the brightest things ever, and nailed a road sign with a barage of BBs. All of a sudden, cops were behind us, pulled us over. The cop was actually snickering. Yes, it was the same cop that we saw at QT. He knew EXACTLY which purple Cuda did it. He saw me hit the sign. He asked us if we had a gun. Bob lied. I said SOMETHING, but not entirely like, "Golly Gee Whiz Bob! You don't like to the cops!" So, we were cuffed, stuffed and promptly escorted down to the Tulsa Country Bed and Breakfast (short for Jail), where we stood far away from a bunch of pee-soaked drunks in that 8x8 cell. It was a long walk home from down town Tulsa to 31st and Mingo (for you Tulsa people).

Hehe. That college nonsense goes on everywhere...And I know not everyone will participate. Any school will have its good and bad points. I went to a Christian college in Texas for a year back in the early 80s, and let me tell you, in many ways they were just as bad if not worse than a secular college.

not sure
I am not sure how many albums John and Bob will release, but at the Petra-website, they say their new worship album is called "Vertical Expressions". Is this another album, or is it a new title for their Worship till the cops come-album? Anyone ?

First...song titles had me rolling on the floor laughing, brent. Very nice!!
Second...I think I must agree with the Christian college thing. I went to Olivet Nazarene as an undergrad from 1999-2004 (now I'm there as a grad student...go figure). We had the "guys in these dorms on one side of the campus quad, girls in these dorms on the other side of the campus quad" thing goin' on. Thing is...windows in 35 and 40 year old dorms don't have alarms...so guys would sneak into girls dorms and girls would sneak into guys dorms (see...security doors don't work so well).
Guys dorms HAD community showers when I was there. I cannot drink (BAD interaction with anti-seizure rx drugs)...but I saw empty cases of beer about once every week (conveniently left in the shower room where they couldn't be traced), a few empty bottles of hard liquor (usually right before finals and midterms), and, well...not everyone that goes to a Christian college has entirely Christian beliefs...so once I did walk in on a group of three or four guys doing...stuff. I never used that shower room again. I moved back home the next semester and commuted the four miles to campus every day for the last two years of college.

They need to call themselves Petra and get it over with. Who are they trying to fool? Petra has been primarily John and Bob anyway. They are Petra. Stick with that. As for a album title, I think it should be something that is a call to worship. The whole "COPS" thing is tacky.
Petra has been such a classy outfit up 'til now. What are John and Bob thinking?

i wanna live until i die.
my sister lives in Tulsa. a couple years ago, when she lived near S Mingo Rd (near Woodland Hills Mall), we went to visit her. we flew from Brazil to DFW and then picked up a one-way rental car to go to Tulsa.brent wrote:Ok, I have a story. This was when I was uh...not living as I should.

she gave us directions but mentioned Mingo Rd, not SOUTH Mingo Rd.
so from I-44 we took 244 then US 169 northbound.
we found Mingo Rd. but it was NORTH Mingo Rd (i think we ended up near Owasso) and let me tell you, i felt like i was in the middle of the amazon forest. those threes are there probably since the beggining of times.

No kidding. I was just in Tulsa (and Inola) for a funeral yesterday. My great aunt passed away.
Out by Owasso sure has changed. Lots of growth.
Tulsa looks dirtier and more run down than what I remember in some places. The north side is moving south and the west side is moving east. I read the business journal once a month and there seems to be no new news. The roads still stink.
I really like Olathe/Overland Park, KS now. Except for the lack of Taco Bueno and Braums.
