IMPORTANT Classic Petra CLARIFICATION

The Classic Petra tour and tentative CD is already peaking interests. It no doubt has my attention. This was the most influential band of my hell-ish teen life. This band got the bible in me when I did not care to read it for myself. They allowed me to get my rock music from a safe source. I continue to be influenced by the music to this day, which is obvious in other areas of my life.

Like many of you, I was so excited and ready to help spread the news and clear up some speculation about the Classic Petra event. When I learned some information about the tour, I relayed it. I was under the impression and therefor mentioned that 40+ shows had been "booked". The complete 40+ show tour has not been completely booked.

Classic Petra is NOT ready to release the tour schedule yet. Releasing an incomplete schedule subject to change is not an option for anyone. You wouldn't want to make plans around it. The guys and their management know we are here and will give us the information when available. Please let them do their thing.

Thanks.

Brent...sounds like you and I share very similar stories. I didnt come to the Lord until my late teens...my family basically were heathens. I came to faith in Jesus when a friend gave me a copy of "Beat the System." I fell in love with the music and one day the song lyrics penetrated my heart. I knew that I wanted what they were singing about. I've never been the same.

Long before I was planted in a church home...Petra were my disciplers. Through their early albums like Never Say Die, More Power To Ya, Not of This World and of course, Beat the System I discovered what being a Christian meant before I ever was able to crack open a Bible. As much as I love John-era Petra, the early Petra will forever hold a special place in my heart. I don't quite get why people are getting so protective of John...he's a big boy...and he himself understands why the Greg era of Petra is so important. It does not diminish his time with the band nor his legacy (I mean, he has the Grammies, Doves and induction into the Hall of Fame to prove it). For many of us, this just gives us a chance to see and celebrate an era that: 1) some of us never got a chance to see live and 2) changed our lives forever.

Long live Petra!

Well said, Masada1, the was my point. John is not diminished in any way by the success of the Classic Petra tour.

I'm sure John understands the importance of early Petra. Just because John understands it doesn't mean it may or may not 'hurt' him in some way. most of us don't understand the history of what he went through.

I believe it's up to John how John feels.

It doesn't mean we can't enjoy the concert and remember why we loved Petra before John was a member.
I just bet it was really hard for him when he first joined Petra because he was being compared to Greg. He eventually helped create his own era that we love too.

Question. What if this is a rebirth of Petra and this happens every two years. A new album, a new tour and then off another two years. This is the same thing the Rolling Stones Do and U2 and other classic bands do. The Band remains together but they come back every 2 or 3 years with new music and a tour. This might be the way to keep Petra going and people interested because we're not getting year after year, month after month of Petra.
