HEY GUYS
I found my files from when I made the zone logo. I put together a web banner for all those who want to post it on their sites or myspace / facebook pages.
Code: Select all
<a href="http://www.thepetrazone.net" target="_blank"><img src="http://thepetrazone.net/petrazoneadd2.jpg" alt="Hey PETRA Fans, come and join the fun at The PETRA Zone"></a>

What about something retro looking, centered around the old logo that is in use again by the Classic Petra site?

Still trying to work on the Facebook thing, so nay on Facebook for the banner, but if you are on the other sites you can post the banner there.

I like the one with the classic Petra logo, but it would probably make more sense if it didn't have John in the back ground. Nothing against John, but he's just not part of classic Petra, nor was he around when that logo was used.

The Sword logo was used as late as 1990. Check these pages for proof:

Still, you're right about that this logo is more associated with Greg than with John. Maybe they can use it for the artwork of the new album.

You're right, p-freak. There were also tour shirts with that same logo on it... during the Farewell Tour, I believe.
IN ANY CASE -- this is NOT the Classic Petra Zone, nor is it the John Schlitt Zone, as some accuse.
It is for PETRA and that includes ALL incarnations of the band.
Therefore I strongly suggest not using ANY photos of any men, and not creating anything that specifically matches any particular version of Petra - past or present.

It sounds like I'm getting art direction. Am I getting art direction? I think I'm getting art direction. Me. The arTEEst.
The photo was just a design element, not meant to imply anything, but given the recent debates about John vs Greg/Classic vs Petra, of course that would be picked apart. I don't really care who was in Petra when, but if someone said "Petra" in a word-association session, I'd picture John wailing away with his arm up, pointing to the sky. It's interpretive. I don't mean to suggest any one man represents Petra.
Now we have this debate over who is in the true Petra, the legitimate Petra, and who are just mercenary musicians. I wonder if Petra ever imagined how divisive their decision to reunite would be. The irony is ... ironic. You know they had the fans in mind, somewhere toward the front.
You don't like it, make your own banner.

I made the current logo and it was uploaded I think back at the time of the release of Jekyll and Hyde.
