Re: Back To The Rock track listing (your picks)
Assuming a 12-song CD (10 re-recordings plus two new songs):
God Gave Rock and Roll to You (I like parts of both previous versions, but neither seems to get it just right)
Magic Words (because these two songs need to finally see the light of day on CD)
Chameleon
Pied Piper
Angel of Light
Couldn't Find Love Without You (see "Magic Words")
Clean (with non-techno effects and modern production, this song would be killer)
Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows
Bema Seat (always felt sad that the songs from NOTW seemed to have the guitars dialed so far back in the mix)
It Is Finished (same as "Clean")
That's 1 off Come and Join Us, 2 off Washes Whiter Than, 2 off Never Say Die 1 off More Power to Ya, 2 off Not of This World and 2 off Beat the System. I feel bad only picking one from MPTY, but that's the album that sounds the best to me already, so I don't really see the songs from it being improved all that much by being re-recorded. I'd be perfectly fine with replacing "Couldn't Find Love" with "Second Wind," however.

This is my best bet:
Coloring song
Praise ye the Lord
More power to ya
Rose colorored stained glass windows
Not of this world
Grave robber
God pleaser
Beat the system
Clean
It is finished
Back to the rock
Possible new balad

Re: Back To The Rock track listing (your picks)
A lot of good suggestions here. There are only a few that I feel are absolutes:
Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows
Adonai
Road to Zion (even though it's not written by Petra)
Clean
Without Him We Can Do Nothing
It Is Finished

There is a road inside of you; inside of me there is one too.
No stumbling pilgrim in the dark, the road to Zion's in your heart.

Re: Back To The Rock track listing (your picks)
This is difficult. There are so many great songs from that era, but here I go with my list:
1. Hard Rock:
a. God Gave Rock and Roll To You. (In a really hard rock version).
b. Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows. (Is it possible, in the Jekyll and Hyde Style...plus... longer or more metallic guitar solos...)
c. Angel of Light. (Another song that I think it's possible to do in the Jekyll and Hyde Style).
d. Bema Seat. (In a really hard rock version).
2. Soft Rock:
a. The Coloring Song. (Definitely one of the most beautiful songs of ALL time).
b. The Road to Zion. (I love this song).
c. For Annie. (The Anti-Suicide Song).
3. Praise/Worship:
a. Let Everything That Hath Breath. (This song is a classic).
4. Inspirational:
a. Grave Robber. (John Lawry, it's time to do some acrobatics in the keyboard. This is another classic).
b. It Is Finished. (The Final Hours of our Lord...in one beautiful song).
5. Bonus Track: (If it is possible):
a. Visions (Reprise-Doxology)... (Another song that I love)...

Re: Back To The Rock track listing (your picks)
If I had to pick 12 I'd like to hear reworked and updated...
Wake Up - I think this song is really intense as is, and Grammatrain's treatment brought it over the top
Gonna Fly Away - I heard them do it at the reunion show, and I think they added an extended solo/jam and it was sublime.
Come And Join Us
Morning Star
Never Say Die
Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows
Road to Zion
Not of This World
Voice in the Wind
Adonai
Praise Ye The Lord
Judas Kiss
I'm not sure I'd want anything that was done on Double Take, other than JK. But I'm not in charge of the project. There are probably those who want everything on DT redone to "purge the demons" though.

Re: Back To The Rock track listing (your picks)
I figured this was as good a place as any for my first "chime in!" I've been a huge fan of Petra's for the longest time and have had the privelage of seeing them in concert 2 or 3 times. My picks are just guesses like others, but am I in the minority in saying that I'd like to hear some of the more recent songs redone...like Jekyll & Hyde, Hit You Where You Live, Armed and Dangerous etc.?

As this is Greg singing, that won't happen. How would they do Jekyll and Hyde different? The other two would just be production changes IMO as the recordings carry a very dated sound.no_1_other wrote:I figured this was as good a place as any for my first "chime in!" I heard some stuff as well. Looking forward to the album.
I'd love to hear All Over Me redone, even though it's difficult to surpass the original. I also very much like the cover Die Happy did of this song.

Even if the more recent stuff isn't totally overhauled, maybe they could get a punch up, like what was done with Rock Block, or Still Means War. Whatever that takes.

I'm not sure how they would, but admitedly, I'd like to see it attempted. Even if they were just "reproductions," I'd still enjoy them either way! It never hurts to ask/wish I guess.ErioL wrote:As this is Greg singing, that won't happen. How would they do Jekyll and Hyde different?
