It was just on that tour for just that song... it needed a little 'extra' so John jumped in.
According to him, his guitar playing ability is not something that anyone would really want to hear on a frequent basis!

I remember hearing something along those lines too.

That was awhile back though.

What song was it?

Sleeping Giant. That was the song John played guitar on when I saw them on the wake up call tour. It was pretty cool. John quickly grabbed a guitar in the middle of the song and Bob and Ronny joined him in the front middle of the stage as they played the guitar instramental part in the middle of that song.

That's the first time I've ever seen that. I remember Greg would pick up a guitar occasionally in the old days, but this is the first I've ever seen that John did it. Too bad we don't have video.

I always found that reason strange given that half of everything was prerecorded back then anyway. Like vocals, extra guitars already. Hmmm. I remember when John came out and him, Bob, and Ronny, did this little guitar dance across the stage. I bet that's what it was really all about. Those entertainers.

I have a photo somewhere from Creation Festival '94, with John playing guitar. I think that was only the second or third time that I had seen Petra in concert at that point, so I didn't realize how unusual it was at the time. Still regret not seeing Guardian play that year at Creation!

I remember on Word's website there was a competition to win the Guitar that John used for the Unfit for Swine video or something like that, I entered many time even though at the time I was in AU and it was only open to US residents.
Enosh, I bet your right. They just wanted to do their dance routine, man I wish I could have seen it.
Surely someone has a camcorder of the Wakeup Call tour?

Not even I... I have some audio recordings of the Wake-Up Call tour with Sleeping Giant, but I guess the quality isn't good enough to see if the extra guitar is actually there. But I'll have a listen.

After listening to a couple of recordings (one of them from the PA) of Sleeping Giant, I haven't heard any guitar sounds that Bob couldn't produce on his own. I have probably 4 or 5 live recordings of Sleeping Giant.
Maybe, just for fun, I should start counting and find out the song that I most live recordings of. My guess would be Beyond Belief, since that's been played at almost every concert since the album was released. But there are two different live versions of Beyond Belief. For the second one (they played it in the late 90s) they even dropped the guitar riffs. That's totally beyond belief!!

That must have been the Wake Up Call year. I wasn't close enough to see John on guitar, but it was a good set.
Too bad Guardian was stuck with an afternoon slot. Their set was awesome. One of the best Creation debuts ever. I wish it would have worked out for them to play a second time. I got 3 of 4 autographs. Tony seemed to be more scarce than the rest of the band. I always assumed it was because he had just finished touring with Michael W., but it could have been anything.
That was the last of Bob at Creation for long time. I think Petra played once more with the God Fixation lineup, and then not again until Bob rejoined the band.
