Classic Petra: Any samples of the new stuff?

I don't even know if they exist but I would think that maybe they do at this point ...

I would have thought we would have heard something by now, they haven't finished recording yet?

samples are very rarely the finished product; If they were planning on putting out samples I would think they would already be out.

The way they talked a first, it sounded like they were going to do samples before hand, but as time went on and the project got pushed back, that notion seemed to disappear. But they are still saying that once the CD is ready for release they will put samples on the website and then the songs can be downloaded from there or you can buy the CD. Supposedly this will all happen by the end of the month here. We'll see about that, but hopefully it won't take any longer.

Uhm... Yeah, I remember. I know the guy who bought the Double Take demos off of eBay and he kindly sent me a copy. I guess that copy has become the source of the leak...

There's probably no chance that John S. will ever release those Hope Marches On demos.

I believe they said they would put classic Petra tracks up on the site as soon as they were mastered, right?

I don't remember any official leaks of Double Take, but I do know that Kevin Brandow put some samples on a his personal website without permission. Inpop also released stuff early to the press such as a demo of "Send Revival" that found its way onto the internet. Finally, when Jekyll and Hyde was gearing up for release, the title track was posted on Inpop's website without publicity since it was only intended for the press, but a fan happened upon the page and Petheads all over the world proceeded to meltdown Inpop's server.

I doubt there will be any unintended early releases this time around since there are fewer people involved in the project, so fewer chances for screw ups.

I have the demos to the Hope Marches on album. There's 6 songs total. I'm not the only one who has them. But I can't tell you who gave them to me or how I obtained them because I'm sure it's probably a breach of some long forgotten contract. lol

So if they're probably never going to see an official release, why not just let them out to the fans?

Well if the album isn't finished yet, I wouldn't see how any leaks would get out. Now if there were any demos done of the new songs, that would be awesome to land a leaked copy of.

I think i'm more excited to see these guys live in concert than I am of the new album at this point. I wonder if they have a radio promotions deal ready...I hope.

Because of royalties and things like that. If John didn't write the songs, and I assume he didn't, and the songs made it out into the public and the authors found out about it, I would assume that John or whomever was responsible could potentially be sued but that is speculation.

Here's all I know about those demos: http://www.petrafiles.com/petraspective/schlitt00.html

I recall that John wasn't very happy that these demos left the studio.

It was also a quality issue. John didn't feel the quality of those songs or the recordings were of a good enough standard to release. It is something I agree with and understand, but a generation of people who will watch blurry you-tube videos and movies on their phones will probably disagree.

I remember the quality lacking on this, plus the songs were really bland and just oridinary. nothing from any of them stick out or are worth remembering.
