Track list for new Classic Petra release

Post by pmrock1 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 7:35 am

Good Morning,
I am new to this board, though I have been reading it for a couple of years. I am really excited about the new release, I was introduced to Ptera with the NOTW release and have a fan ever since. I was on the petrafiles.com site and was checking out the petraspective section and the person who runs that site had listed a tentative track list for Back to the Rock and was wondering if anyone knew where they got this info and if it was correct?

No idea where that came from. No track list has been offered yet on the Official Web Page, so it's a mystery to me and I'd be surprised if it were 100% accurate.

I'll let Pieter answer for his own site, but one of the PetraZone posters emailed the guy who's been doing the Classic Petra blog posts, and he responded with the tracklist (post can be found here: viewtopic.php?p=151497#p151497)
I wrote to Michael asking about which songs the band is working.
He said:

Here are the songs that will be on the new album.

Adonai
Let Everything Praise the Lord
More Power To Ya
Rose Colored
Grave Robber
Clean
Bema Seat
Angel of Light
Too Big
Back to the Rock
God Pleaser
Second Wind

- Paul

A little disoriented. Getting reoriented.

Thanks for visiting my site!

It is a tentative track list, so there probably will be some changes. The list on my site was given to me by Bob Hartman.

But some other people here have also access to some reliable sources and it seems they've decided to leave Hollow Eyes off and replace it by Godpleaser.

Welcome to the zone!

There's another list I saw where it says "Too Big To Fail", an apt title for the times. Either way, I'm sure it's not John's song.

I can't believe they left out Praise Ye The Lord, it's such a Classic Petra concert staple, it would sound incredible with todays technology. I don't care much for let everything that gave breath though.

The manager told me originally that they were going to do NOTW with a philharmonic orchestra, now he says that MPTY is getting the philharmonic treatment.

That is good though, It would be more better for "More Power to Ya" to get it, instead of "Not of this World". "Not of this World" is more of a Pink Floyd-ish trip and calls for a none-classical drive.

If the rumor is true that there will be more than one album, then they need more songs for the next one. So just give it time. I'm sure we'll hear it live when they hit the road in support of the new album.

I sure hope there are more albums, cuz this list (if it's accurate) only has one from NSD and that album sure deserves more than that.

Yeah I'm hoping the same thing, some good strong tunes need to be showcased.

Does anyone know who the producer was for the new CD?

Probably won't be hearing it live. I'm assuming they would just play the tunes that they rereleased and the 2 new ones. The live show they are quoting to promoters is 28k for a 50-60 minute concert plus talk. No more than 70 minutes on stage total.

I don't know, but I always thought it would be Lawry and Bob because of the past history. This formula worked on PP1 and its very cost effective.

I thought they might do the producing themselves. PP1 had a great sound IMO. I can't wait to hear it.
