How should anyone know if John will listen to it? That's up to John.

Who cares? What if he thought it sucked. What does it matter?

Exactly, Brent.

I bet John will listen to it though. Probably as much as Greg listened to Back to the Street through Farewell.

I really don’t understand people’s infatuation with John’s opinion about this thing.

So what's the problem with Matthew's question? I would be very curious to know what John would think of this. I don't mind if he doesn't say anything at all. But I can't imagine John not listening to this album. He used to be a huge pethead before he became the lead singer, and he sang some of those old songs in concert, so these songs probably have some emotional value for him as well.

What could be really helpful for this zone is a posted thread about what people are and are not allowed to ask about.
I'm a long time member here - so if I'm not sure what is allowed (apparently I was wrong to bring this topic up), newbies beware. You have been warned.
Mat, we've both been here for a long time. You have every right to have what ever opinion you want to have, all I was doing was making my opinion about the topic. I just want to know what people's thing is about what John thinks. It don't matter to me either way.

There are no right or wrong questions here, we just all have strong opinions.

No. Some people around here need to grow thicker skin and not read drama into everything that is posted.

Dude, are you going take every response that disagrees with you as a personal attack?

It's an epidemic on the board as a whole.

Ring, ring ring.
GXV: Hello?
JS: Hey buddy, this is John
GXV: Hey John, how are you brother?
JS: Well, let me tell ya', my gosh I think the Classic Petra album is just great. I hope God blesses it. The fans will love it.
GXV: Thank you brother, I appreciate that.

It would go something like this, because John is a stand-up guy and does what he believes is the right thing to do, even when it is unpopular or inconvenient. I am not saying that John would not like the record. I am just saying that he will not dog it if he doesn't like it. What is there to not like? It is a good album. This could be the start of something great, if Bob still has it in him to write and they can sell units and book shows.

That's probably very close to what would happen if the phone call was made.

For promotion they should choose the name PETRA. If the 1988-1994 line-up would return, then they would also deserve the name PETRA. I know it's a dead horse but I like controversal discussions. :)
Yes that horse is dead.

Being that John Schlitt said in an interview “Petra is Petra no matter who’s in it because it’s a ministry” then yeah I would say the horse is dead.

What would you guys be saying today if Bob had never left the road back in 1994? What would you say if Bob had stayed and Ronnie and Jim Cooper left anyway, then by 2001 Petra was still Bob, Louie, John and a couple of new guys?

Bob only left the road, he never let go of Petra completely; Petra has and always will be his baby. Petra was Petra before John Schlitt and if Bob decides to then Petra will be Petra after John. The name Petra never stated one man’s name it has always been made up of a group of guys no more than 5 at a time, one person leaves another person steps in.

Those other guys afforded Petra a chance to continue all those years. John and those “hired hands” as you would call them would beg to differ with you when you say that it wasn’t Petra, to them it was.
