there hasn't been any talk about it that I'm aware of. Petra couldn't get a lot of play with J&H some said it was too soft, some said it was too heavy, others said they were too old, but the petheads said they were just right......ok I have no idea why I went there.

Concert promoters are booking them now that it's a version of the band that hasn't been around in 25 years. I love John Schlitt and he has a great ministry and a heart for God like no other. But in today's music smooth vocals are back and I think the industry just went in a different direction than what Petra was doing with John.

I emailed my local Christian radio station and requested the new music be added to their rotation. Maybe it will help. Who knows.

I did the same thing. I emailed various show hosts, and posted a link to the album download on local radio station's Facebook pages.

I sent an email out to two of the stations in my town. I also included management contact info.

My friends at 88.1 The Promise In Jacksonville Fl are playing it - and this is from their Facebook Page
" PETRA is back!!!! Be listening for 4 re-cut Petra songs on The Promise. If you are part of our Promise Private Concert Club - go to our web site for our next private event with Petra's lead singer - Greg X Volz - as Greg will come to Jacksonville to sing and talk about the upcoming Petra World Tour...." Their website is fm88.org
WDCX FM in Buffalo is also playing cuts from BTTR. That's TWO! Praise the Lord.

Hi Stephen,

I wasn't aware Petra had reunited. Thank you for the info.

Yeah, many people are not aware. Just a few days before the digital release of the album I sent an e-mail to JFH and told them about Back To The Rock and sent them the press releases. I hope they will send someone to the show tomorrow and that they'll write a nice review. I think JFH (jesusfreakhideout) is pretty influential nowadays.

My band did a live radio appearance in my home town a while back and I begged them to play some Petra and they made every excuse in the book. Good thing is I mentioned Petra about a dozen times on the air so at least some kids heard the name and maybe Googled them. Radio stations have always been afraid of Petra. It's the strangest thing. It's like was stated above..... It's too heavy, or it's too light, or they're too old, or didn't they backwards mask in '82........ As a kid I used to call the so called Christian Rock station and request Petra everyday. For some reason they just couldn't work them in between Amy Grant, Carman, and Russ Taff.

Amy Grant, Carman, Russ Taff......Christian Rock??? Russ had a few rock tunes, but not like Petra. Politics in music really make me sick. I've had about enough of it.

Aman to the politics. Good music has always taken a back seat to pop garbage when it comes to radio. Even dc talk got shunned by radio when they recorded Jesus Freak.

Yeah they were so shinned that the non Christian top 40 stations played two cuts from that album including Jesus Freak, which helped populate a fantastic tour for the band. It also helped DC Talk land a top 40 single for a few weeks and the album sold like hot cakes (actual sales in The Netherlands are unconfirmed, but a lot of Dutch ppl would have liked to download it if only p2p sites were up and running) I hate it when an artist is shunned like that  The next album, Supernatural even benefited from the success of JF when it debuted in the top 20 billboard album sales upon release.

Yeah dc Talk isn't an example I would use. dc Talk pretty much had the industry in the palm of their hands. But Petra had to keep looking for a record contract every so often.

I guess it just didn't get any love here in alabama. If it ain't southern gospel or pop they ain't gonna play it round here. And dc talk got a lot more secular love than christian love for a while when virgin records picked them up.

When JF hit the first single on non christian radio was "Just Between you and Me." I was watching MTV and they said the new song from a band called DC Talk sounded more like Seal than Seal did! Top 40 radio KRBE and KHMX in Houston played JBYAM a lot. JF was only on KRBE a little. Petra is barely played anywhere. The Christian station stopped a while back as far as I can tell. They only really played the slow stuff for the most part.

The last single I ever heard from Petra on the Radio out here in Bakersfield, CA was "If I had to Die for Someone"
